The DS will have it's hands more than full with the PSP and it's third party supporters. Nintendo is going to have to rethink their portable gameplan. To not think that is blatently retarded.

You are a huge fucking douche bag. And wrong. The DS has a remake of mario 64 that alone is worth more than every game the P2P is going to have for at least a year. And not a single fucking game you listed on your shelf belongs in the same room as Metroid.

EDIT: Ok Katamari Damacy in the same room but its a fun distraction nothing more.

I'm a douchebag for thinking Metal Gear Solid is more fun than Super Mario 97? Go post a Nintendo Power. Moron.

Edit: DS Launch Titles (and 3 months after release): Super Mario 64-3, Sprung, XY/XX, Tiger Woods, Ping Pals, Mr. Driller, The Urbz, Asphalt, Ridge Racer. Zookeeper, the Bejeweled clone is the only release in the near future and it got delayed til the latter part of January.

PSP Launch Titles (or pretty obviously so): Wipeout Pure, Metal Gear Solid Acid, Ridge Racer, Death Jr., Dark Stalkers, Untold Legends, Lumines, Hot Shots Golf, Ape Escape, Gran Turismo 4 Mobile, Ghost in the Shell, and a MMORPG in the works. Oh and don't forget Spiderman 2 and Tony Hawk's Underground 2. Also has infrared, USB 2.0, memory stick slot for movies and music, oh and wireless. It also doesn't have a second screen you have to watch.

One of these systems is not like the other. One shouldn't have been made. Can we guess which one?

I wanted to start with Mac vs. PC.

Liking what Nintendo is doing by making people buy a whole new system every 3 years for less than 10 games is like liking Macintosh's and being a gamer.

Speaking of Nintendo and the PSP.. here's a link stolen from FARK.

It's an interview with the former CEO of Nintendo.

The gamecube still has the best console games that you can't get on the PC and STILL made Nintendo money. Nintendo will be in the game for at least the next two generations. Fuck the DS sold more units in a month than the IPOD did in 18 and the IPOD is keeping Apple alive.

Lol! *points and laughs some more*

Out of the 3 console systems I have, the Gamecube is the only one I regret. It's a kiddie console, designed for children, it doesn't play DvDs, it's not backwards compatible with old Nintendo systems, half the damn games require a GBA to full enjoy, the graphics are only slightly better than the PS2...

Shall I go on?

Nintendo's arrogance is finally catching up to it. I bought a DS mostly because it is backwards compatible, but part of me thinks I should have held off for the PSP. The dual screen thing is a gimic, it still uses cartridges...

I don't understand the appeal of handhelds. If I want to play games I'll relax on my couch in front of my nice tv and speakers and play, or fire up the PC and jump online for a bit. I owned a GB and finally just gave it to a co-worker to give to his son because it just sat and collected dust.

The best thing about handhelds is they have to eschew graphics, so they work on gameplay.  Sadly, the next generation of handhelds is going to be able to support nice graphics, so back to the drooling shinies.

Handhelds seem to be for one of 3 categories of people.   Kids still in school so they can break it out between classes, geeks with a technology bug that need the 'new shiny' and folks who do lots of travel.

I've got a GBA, but it was because I fell into the 3rd category for a while and I've got a bit of the second in me.  Nowadays if I want to play one of the games I pop it into the player attached to my Gamecube.

Remember, the alligator is chomping the bigger one.

I only play GBA games on an emulator.  Screw the convenience.  I'm not going to carry that thing around.  I just like playing games in the Advance Wars/Harvest Moon model.  Substance over style.

Well, Harvest Moon - though I own the GC one didn't get to me. But Advance Wars is awesome. But when is the Advance Wars for DS coming out? Sometime near Q4 I suppose. THey just didn't have enough games ready to bring out the DS. In turn, it feels like the Virtual Boy all over again.

I'm ignoring schild because hes too stupid to talk about games, or really anything, with (Hint: game selection had nothing to do with the Virtual Boy failing) but quickly:

- no it's not
- who cares? I have a PS2 and I don't think I've watched a single DVD on it ever
- that's simply not true
- if you're playing cconsole games because of the graphics something is seriously wrong

The Gamecube has as a computer gamer the only thing I care about. The best games that will never come out on a PC.

The problem is the games it has, other than Resident Evil, are primarily the tired old Nintendo Staples aimed at a younger audience. I find it hard to argue this. Basically my biggest problem is Nintendo's arrogance, it's been that way for a long time and it is obvious in the design of the Gamecube.

Edit: More indepth response coming later. I'm real busy at work and don't have time to make a response worth replying to.

Resident Evil, Metroid Prime/Echos, Eternal Darkness, James Bond 007... there's certainly a few games aimed at adults for the Gamecube.

However, a better point would be that there's many games that adults can enjoy that are nonetheless kid-friendly as well.   If you're going to sit there and tell me that Legend Of Zelda: Wind Waker is not a game worth playing just because it's not violent or sexy enough, then you have totally lost perspective.

You do have a point in that the Gamecube lacks DVD compatibility and looks and is priced like a toy.   I just can't agree with the logic that says it's not a worthwhile game system because you think it lacks pubes.

I am now convinced you're all lonely depressed people, the GC is the best console of this generation for one reason and one reason only, drunken Super Monkey Ball.

That being said, Eternal Darkness and Metroid Prime rock aswell.

007 is available on other systems and has better graphics and controls than the gamecube. ( Can you tell I don't like its controller? It's not designed for an adult's hands in my opinion.)

Resident Evil I already mentioned. Eternal Darkness is good.

Metroid Prime is one of those tired Nintendo staples I mentioned. It's highly overrated in my opinion.

Windwaker was ok. I never finished it because it dragged on way to long for my tastes. (Sadly I suspect I'm very near the end, but I just got burned out on it.)

It's not a bad game, and has some interesting elements to it but it was lacking something in the long run. I do have hopes for the next Zelda game which appears to be backing off the cute quotient slightly.

It also lacks online access (To my knowledge) and has what I view as the most limited library of the three systems.

Ah, that is very true. I do think if I spent much of ANY time on any sort of public transit I'd be investing in a handheld of some sort.

This is exactly the point that most people miss.

Gamecube games (and nintendo games in general) are mostly not designed for kids. They are designed for multiple drunk people.

Good thing is, Super Monkey Ball is coming out on the XBox (March, I think).
