Error 404: Title not found.

on: January 04, 2005, 10:42:05 AM

As a reminder I would like to encourage anyone who hasn't done so to donate at least a small amount to the Red Cross in this time of need. When over a hundred thousand lives are lost and millions are subject to disease, homelessness, and hunger, we need to do our part as a global community and extend a helping hand. Here is a link to donate to the Red Cross effort via Amazon.com that they set up.

Red Cross donations

I will be putting forth at least $250 to the cause. If you have been blessed I encourage you to give what you can. Thanks.

Even though I don't make enough money to spare, I did sell my spare EQ1 account to IGE and Ebayed my old N-gage and donated that. Was $456.75.

Treat this like a memorial thread.   One and only warning.  K?

Dumped a spare $100 note in one of red cross' big wheelie bins in a plaza today (damn HMV didn't have the CD I wanted, screw ordering it from a store, I have internet for that). Just 'cause I don't feel sad doesn't mean I don't understand that I need that $100 a whole lot less than they do.

BWL is funny tho.  It's like watching a Special Needs school take a field trip to a minefield.

Rather than donating cash, I'm going to donate my time.  I'm planning to travel to Thailand in the coming months to help with some rebuilding.

It's not much, but I hope it helps.

I am sure your efforts in rebuilding the devastated sex trade industry will be much appreciated.

Too early to joke yet? I can never tell...

Rule is generally 10 years for major US tragedies and somewhat less than a year for everyone else.

That great that you can do that Nebu.  I have a family friend that manages construction work in SE Asia (usually Thailand too, where he met his wife); I can imagine he'll be really busy for a long time now. Luckily he was on mainland China when everything went down.

They showed a video on Foxnews today of the wave just washing over a beach with people on it. Watching them get hit by the wave takes it out of the realm of "oh that's bad" to "why did this have to happen"?

You try to stay numb to tragedy sometimes, but it's not possible. No amount of money is going to bring back the people that are dead, but it can keep a lot more from dying unnecessarily to diseases and homelessness. I'm glad for everyone's responses and efforts.
