Being the resident newbie, where do I go/what do I do/should I bother as a level 20? Love collecting masks and stuff in EQ2 (hope they have some new stuff this year, too), so I'd like to get some in LotRO!

You should get an in game mail that tells you where to go, they're pretty good about that usually.  If it's like the other festivals, it'll be the party tree in the shire, the fair grounds in bree, duillond north of celodim, and outside thorin's hall.

Should be the same as last year, sans the horse race. also, Town Crier, and check your mail box.

This is the year, I get my bucket helm, dam it. Also, dont forget to start/add to you're Inn-League Rep!

Huh?

Hate being a newb, partly why I have played EQ2 so long, just jump in and play without being clueless all the time  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Hit level 20 with my Champo and was able to upgrade a couple of pieces of armor with crafting, the yellow bronze lvl 15 heavy armor being slightly better than the yellow lvl 18 mediums you gave me. Love me some crafting, even if I have some recipe envy and already hate the stupid sapphire shard bullshit...Also made a newbie mistake of refining all my barrow iron ingots (like 100 or so) into steel for $$$ (coal)..and finding out most recipes use iron ingots, har har.

The inn-league is the best rep-grind ever added to a game.

Sky.  Sky.  Sky.  Don't read those links.  Just go to the Party Tree above Hobbiton, look under one of the tents for the hobbit standing next to a table full of mugs.  Talk to that guy, do what he says. awesome, for real

Doing that quest with my hobbit, I got severely motion sick. So I started drinking heavily and finished it just fine.

The only problem is the second best quest is it's follow up quest that happens in the hedge maze, but that's only active in the spring festival.  I really wish they'd activate that for more than one season, since it's also the easiest way to rep up with the Inn League.

I am suspicious that they might rearrange the maze for the next festival.  Actually I will be disappointed if they do not.

Bwa? I was doing the Harvestmath quests over lunch. Seemed pretty live to me.

Well damn, why would the people in game tell me it wasn't?  I would have run over to the Party Tree.  Ah, well, only ten more awakened trees to go, thanks to the LIES.

Also I didn't have a quest-starting letter in my pack so I was inclined to believe them.

Man, those quests are not newbie friendly. The Inn League...tough to do with no map of the Shire. Found the first Inn by luck and ran out of time before I could drink the beer. Then I went for the dance thing and didn't have any idea there was a /dance1 kind of thing, so when they say follow the leader I figure he is going to give you the names of a dance move or something...so he doesn't (not knowing about the number appendage), so on the first dance move I fail with /dance and hey...wait the duration of the dance plus twenty minutes! I was smart enough to wiki the trickster quest in the Shire, or I'd never have finished that in time, either. But forcing wiki use is lame, and judging by all the advice spam in Bree and Hobbiton I was far from the only person annoyed by the cryptic crap.

Eh, fuck all that. Poor Riders got a taste of my love of mmo in kin chat. Played some guitar instead.

Town criers should be belting out info.

Un-upated info, as it turn out; they still mention the horse races.

Sorry about that, I had to log off right after you invited because the motherfucking Orkin guy showed up. What a clown act they are. Part of why I was so pissy about the quest stuff after. I'm contemplating legal action against the bastards, I haven't been this upset in a while.

The thing about the trickster quests wasn't so much the riddle. It was finding the person in the first place, and then knowing the emote list. How would a newbie know a butt-picking emote, ffs?

I don't know, I had the same trouble with those quests and they are obtuse at times, but I'd not say out of the realm of any other difficult quest.  I mean, just because they are Festival quests doesn't mean they are easy; you might as well complain that a newbie fails the end of Book 1 on the first try since he doesn't understand aggro and threat.  Think of the Festival quests as real quests instead of gimme-quests and it might look different.  Admittedly, some of them are super-easy, but then you have things like the Sinister Keg and the fishing quest.

The butt-picking one, I remember that one baffled me.

I can't remember how many times it took me to get even one racial dance, but it was during my third festival, the spring 2009 one.  I even had to set up hotkeys aliased to the three dance emotes to get it done.  I know that being somewhat familiar with emotes isn't typical diku-MMO gameplay, but that's why I like LotRO much more than the others.

And the fish slapper. awesome, for real
