Left ear is still ringing, it's the worse of teh two. Not as bad as when I saw Skynryd and some moron put a house speaker stage front center pointed at the crowd, we were sitting front row, center. Had buzzsaw noise in the left ear for a day, ringing for about a week.

If you don't have ear damage yet, you should start getting into the habit of carrying earplugs to events. If you do have some, you need to carry earplugs to events. I've only forgotten a couple times and have irreversible damage. It's no joke and anyone who mocks you for wearing them should be ignored for teh ignoramus they are.

I know this isn't the TV thread but I'm recommending Sonic Highways on HBO here anyway.  It's good!

I always wear ear plugs to shows, got in the habit of it 10 years ago when developing lasers and hearing protection was mandatory.  Been called all sorts of nasty names but I can still hear perfectly and others tend to go "what?"

Just saw a local band do a passable cover of the Animals album live. That should happen more often.

Some "new" Queen songs due out this week.

This is a Queen remix of a song Freddie Mercury had on his solo album. Seems pretty well done:

Queen - Love Kills

Freddie Mercury + Michael Jackson duet:

Queen & Michael Jackson - There Must Be More To Life Than This

Unreleased recording from back in ~1983. Probably my favorite of the three:

Queen - Let Me in Your Heart Again

Some very early Kraftwerk in a live (filmed for tv) setting in 1970 with several acoustic instruments.  It is one of the more amazing music things I have seen on the tubes of you in awhile.

That was a really cool historical document of the rise of shitty music  why so serious?

All bias aside, I'm being honest about the cool historical angle. I always like seeing the roots of genres like that. 1970 was such an amazingly phenomenal year of music.

The David Byrne and St Vincent album from a couple of years ago is really good. An example:

I love that one.  Yolandi is awesome in it.  The song is second to the video, I think.  The only video I don't much like is Evil Boy because of the all the penises.  I'll listen, but I quickly look away when it's played.  They are the ugliest penises I've ever seen.  Ick.

Thanks, Sky.  I love that you remember stuff!

That's why I like the 'metal' remix, I think it brings in some of what was missing from the original track, which was a bit sparse.

I linked it yesterday as a response to an artist friend's linking of Snow's Informer (licky boom boom down).

I wonder if Mustaine is back on the sauce? Yesterday the drummer quit and this morning Broderick quit. Now it's just Dave and Junior again? REALLY wish I had been able to see them with Broderick, one of the few 80s thrash bands still on the bucket list.

Rammstein finally came to Spotify, so I've been going down a German rabbit hole. I also seem to have a huge man crush on Till Lindemann.

I also have a crush on Duane Peters.

And I don't care a bit that he's butt ugly and insane.  It adds to the charm.

Hoping for a new album by them in 2015; it's been too long!  Their shows are a lot of fun, too.

That specific album is great, lots of Game of Thrones-inspired songs before GoT was a thing.

Yeah, the Sword is a great band. Been listening to a lot of that genre, Witchcraft is another great one. Also the instrumental stuff like Pelican and Earthless.

I don't get why labels would ever take their music off youtube, I just discovered these dudes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzaIGyWvomk

Yeah, I'm old, but damn it still makes me rock out :)

I'm trying to find the Butthead shirt from MTV of AC/DC, hopefully the tour comes near Indiana.

AC/DC is like Motorhead. You know what you're going to get from them but it still kicks ass even decades after you first heard it.

No idea what people's thoughts are on R&B/Neo Soul on here but D'Angelo's return after a 14 year haitus is fantastic. Black Messiah seems to be fast becoming an End-of-Year-List upsetter.

What do you get when you combine Stevie Wonder and Elton John and Dave Grohl and Lorde and Brian Wilson, I never expected this....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqLTe8h0-jo It has a few uneven spots, but the amount of talent involved made me shed a small tear. It might help that this is probably my most favorite song of all time.

And for Schild and his Daft Punk love... Here's something you will hate... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fyojCP8syo
