Ehh. Similar chord progression, but a lot of disco also sounds like that and I think Nile Rodgers being involved can pretty much explain it (go listen to the introduction to Good Times by Chic and ask yourself who is stealing from whom.) Also "Get Lucky" took something like 18 months to produce, so I'm not sure the timeframe really works anyway.

Good lord no. That chord progression is as stale as the 70s. Daft Punk make good of it because PRODUCTION. Otherwise, there really isn't a great deal of resemblance; this kid is using it as a showcase for his MAD SKILLZ YO (read: insufferable fret wankery) and never alters the loop once established. It's not a song, it's a noodle.

As someone who doesn't care for insufferable fretboard wankery (see: Steve Vai), that kid wasn't so bad.

Also, Daft Punk is insufferable clogged sewage pipe sludge.

Haken had a new album come out yesterday called "The Mountain". My favorite band and probably their best album so far. One of my favorite tracks:

Saw GY!BE tonight, it lived up entirely to what I hoped it would be.  East Hastings live, woohoo!

Only downside was that I had to verbally bitchsmack some guy and his girl that couldn't shut the fuck up through the show.  It's amazing how fucking rude people can be, and disrespectful to the artists by chatting through the damn show about the most inane bullshit.  What finally got him to shut it was when I called him a self-entitled little bitch.  I mean, do you go to the museum and purposefully stand in front of people looking at paintings?  No...  and being a soft/loud music show is no different.

Seattle is a small enough town; if your work buddies tell you a story about some guy freaking out at them about talking through a GY!BE show, then please kick your buddy in the sack for me.

Not a bad remix of one of my favourite songs by one of my favourite bands.  However, I don't think I get much support for that here when I post one of their vids.  For some reason they're not so popular on f13.  I don't get it!

Die Antwoort are ok, not the sort of thing I could listen to all the time but not the sort of thing I'd switch off after 10s. Their videos are weird as fuck though.

Trentemøller has a new album out on monday, there's a preview up at Pitchfork; I'm liking it.

This is pretty good.  Kinda like if later Mercyful Fate and Iced Earth had a baby.  Also the other vocalist sounds exactly like the vocalist from Borknagar (probably is him, but I'm too lazy to check)

Sadly, as Volbeat albums go, not really a fan of anything else on that album.

Did you need motown covers of Ziggy Stardust? I sure as hell didn't know I did, but I'm glad it exists.

I caught Clutch on the Elephant Riders tour, playing with Limp Bizkit back when they were badass on the Three Dolla Bill tour. Sevendust opened. It was a really great show.

We had a part-time librarian who was a huge Clutch fan, just out of college. It was weird because I think she was in Jr High when I went to that show. /creak

To bring that old man story around, we traded some music and I got five or six Tom Waits discs out of it and I've been painting to Tom lately. Fucking amazing stuff.
