Two new songs from NIN; Copy of A and Disappointed. Doesn't matter that they're live and probably being recorded on someone's phone, those two songs sound phenomenal and the stage concept is brilliantly simple. Looks like Reznor's followed the rabbit all the way down the electronic hole he's threatened to since Year Zero which is making me immensely happy.

I am disappointed by the new NIN.  It just isn't interesting to me at all.

I liked it well enough but NIN has been down the electronica rabbit hole for years. If you listen to any of the How to Destroy Angels stuff, he's just totally eschewing traditional instrumentation sounds completely.

Nice, I'd love to see CoC. Pepper rocks. I only have the one disc with Albatross (and a couple of Down discs), but it's filled with awesome.

Ended up getting sucked into isolated Randy Rhoads tracks on Saturday night, which led to jamming old Ozzy stuff for a while. Fuck was that guy an amazing guitar player.

It's the dark Van Halen. Such a shame RR was killed by that asshole. Listening to both him and EVH on isolated tracks it's amazing what similar yet different talents they were at the time.

Funny going back and playing that stuff all these decades later and a few years of classical under my belt. It just makes so much more sense. Playing it as a kid with power chords was pretty sad, and now I want to time travel back and teach myself chord voicings and inversions :)

On a side note, I found out that Rain is coming near me.  It's not the Beatles, but these guys are pretty solid.

Had a great day Sunday for various reasons, the leading of which was the fact that someone the next street over was having a birthday party with a live band. Old school country (think Hank Sr) and bluegrass. REALLY talented band, the whole neighborhood was out enjoying it. They played two sets over an hour each, just made for a perfect afternoon.

huh?  While I have no hard data to back this up, I am pretty sure Diary of a Madman and Blizzard are viewed by most as the best two albums of his solo career.  Or, as my friend would put it "its and almost known fact".

did that album have poor sales at the time of its release?
