Direct 2 Drive has a special on Mount & Blade download for $5.

I had always heard good things about this but never tried it. For the price of lunch it was well worth it. What a charming game!

Get it fast, though; the D2D sale changes what's on sale in 3 hours.

Next up is "wargames."

I shudder to imagine what a mainstream gaming site will define as a "wargame."

Brace yourself for C&C, Call of Duty, and some Rainbow Six.

I'm betting Call of Duty or one of the Battlefields.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Or Company of Hero's, Supreme Commander, and World in Conflict?

I'm changing mine to Supreme Commander.

Funnily enough, the UK site has C&C3. Although it is "EA games" week there. Seeing as it is also on the UK site, Battleforge comes to mind as a "wargame", too!

Now $5 @ D2D (10.05.09 - 10.11.09)

Company of Heroes Gold
Supreme Commander Gold
World in Conflict Gold Edition
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War - Dark Crusade
Battlestations: Pacific
Codename: Panzers - Cold War
Brothers In Arms: Road to Hill 30
Delta Force: Land Warrior
Delta Force: Task Force Dagger

Mount & Blade still available for $5, as one of the 20 holdovers from past categories. I assume it will be gone on the twelfth.

Mount and Blade is good.
Bargain price makes it extra good.
Buy it and help turks.

I'm loving Mount&Blade.

If you are going to try this out, just get your key from D2D and the game itself from the developer. Don't bother downloading from D2D as that version doesn't work on many of the Mods available.

You can download the full version from the Taleworlds website and demo it to character level 7. Then use the $5 key from D2D if you like it to unlock the full game.

I imagine the point is that through the devs it costs a lot more than $5

Yes, $30.

Though they deserve full price.

I agree it is worth the full price. But I probably would have never tried if I hadn't seen the $5 D2D offer. I didn't know about the demo until after I bought the game. From the influx of noobs like me on the Taleworld forums it seems the promo is paying off with customers and dollars they would not have otherwise seen, right in time for a release of M&B 2!

M&B 2!
Not M&B II, but there's an expansion coming "soon(ish)", Warband, with multiplayer (skirmishes), better graphics and some other stuff.

Luckily the serial number I bought 4 years ago still works fine!

Well, yes, but I barely played my copy, so I'm content with whatever steam-sale price it was that I got mine for.
