God of War II for PS3 is good for me since I never played it.

I saw that GoW1/2 combo mentioned a week or so ago. Good move by Sony, especially if they update the graphics a little.

The official site says 720p.  IIRC both games were released in that resolution originally, for people who had their PS2 hooked up to a component input on an HDTV.   It does say "remastered with anti-aliased graphics."  I hold some hope that it will look better, though not as good as a more recent title designed for the PS3.

I'll probably buy it, even with both GoW1&2 already on my shelf.

On the PS2 the games were 480p with component output not 720p.

Kinda a no brainer move, it was part of a poll they did 6 months ago asking what you wanted to see in the GoW 3 collector's edition and one of the options was "GoW 1 & 2 on Blu-Ray" - everything else was shit comparatively. The good move was making it a separate disc and selling it.

Eh? They're not selling the day 1 DLC. They're giving it away with a special edition. Me thinks you've crossed the streams on the sort of DLC that pisses me the hell off. That being DLC that adds anything to story (as said in the Dragon Age thread) and is sold separately on day 1 (as said in the Dragon Age thread). There's no reason to not have that stuff on the disc, I don't care what BS they come up with. They could've had it on there (for DA). As for this, eh, whatever. I'm buying it for Pandora's Box and I never futzed around with the arena in the previous ones and I know for a face it has nothing to do with the story and adds nothing to the GoW world.

In other words, wrong kind of DLC. Now, perhaps it will be SOLD to people with the regular edition, but it doesn't quite seem to be that way. But whatever, not having it takes exactly zero away from the game. Much like I didn't mind the "day 1" (though more like week 1) DLC of Disgaea 3 (outfits and such).

Edit: The worst part is I have to preorder from fucking Gamestop to get that kickass skin for Kratos (lol, /fanboymode).

What would you do with that giant ugly box.

Besides never get laid, I mean.

Probably put it on my coffee table.  The fact that I live in a studio apartment and have to be picky about what I clutter my place up with is the main thing holding me back from pre-ordering right now.

It wouldn't have killed them to put GOW I and II in the box as well.

If the build quality is right, it would still make you very popuplar with the local vampire groupies?  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

On a side note, I am so buying it. GOW3, not Pandora's box. Maybe the box too, which can be used to store some of my MtG cards, for a +2 nerd bonus!

Agreed.  I would trade the box for the remastered I and II.

That was the original plan for the Remastered GoW 1/2.

Until they realised they could just sell it you you (us) again, seperately.

I'd rather get GoW Collection now and play through it before GoW 3 comes out, rather than pick up a pack of all three and go through 3 first.

Also, there's a thread on GAF that has a few good screenshot comparisons between the PS2 games and the remastered versions.

This trophy has me very nostalgic:

Anyone remember those columns? I hated them with a passion. Maybe not as much as the floating platform challenge, but still!

SCEE are currently looking into options to bring the port to PS3 consumers in Europe, however, it will not be possible to release it in 2009.

So I guess I'll import it myself in 2 or 3 weeks. But really. WTF are they thinking? Do they not like money? Facepalm

Could be that they just have different marketing plans in Europe.  Europe isn't getting the GoW 3 demo either.  Maybe they want to release the Collection closer to the release of GoW 3, or for all I know, maybe GoW just isn't that big in Europe.

Just got my God of War Collection today, so I now have an extra key for the GoW 3 demo if anyone needs one.
