Now I know what the "Massive" stands for. I'd installed it once but hadn't fired it up yet. Normally wouldn't balk at 2.6gig, but somehow this download sucked the bandwidth throughout my entire network but didn't seem to be going very fast itself. Powered off the PS3 and got my speed back on the other machines, never had that kind of issue before.
Anyway, I'll fire it back up before I crash for the night, can't wait to check this one out at some point.

Had to install a nearly 3 gig patch yesterday before the servers went on.  Turned the PS3 on tonight figuring I'd be good to go only to get hit with a 2.6 gig patch.  Eh, I don't mind so much but it's slow as hell to download stuff on my PS3 for whatever reason.

I dunno what it is but my PS3 downloads slower than fuck off my Wifi connection despite being like 20 feet away from my WAP.

This download has been going for over 5 hours now and it's still not half done.

Don't worry, when it gets to 99% it'll get stuck there forever and of course when you try to redo it it'll download everything from the beginning. Or at least that's what's happening to me at the moment.

That sucks. My download at least seems to be capable of resuming. It is very slow though, and I'm wired, so I suspect it's their patch delivery that's slow.

I, didn't have the issues you guys do. I just started the download, and made dinner, done. Of course I haven't gotten today's patch (  Ohhhhh, I see. ), the server times are not conducive to me playing this.

I got in last night, created a toon, but there were just 15 others logged in, and for some reason no one was my faction. Waited in queue for 30 minutes then went to sleep without a single game starting. I guess everyone is still downloading the patch.

On a side note, I got the patches before you guys? Where's the server located, in my basement?

I should be able to get a character created in time for tonight's session.

Took me pretty much all day yesterday to download the patch, but made a character (S.V.E.R. faction) and got in some playtime today.

Send me a PM Scudeye so we may discuss the terms of your surrender.

I read the forums and they have a decent bug reporting interface. But now there's queueing issues today. I guess I'll start Monday?

I am going to play tonight. I had all day Friday but they had queuing issues.

I think it's also under NDA, so you might want to refrain from posting more impressions.

I take back what I said about download resuming earlier, it's not doing so for the 2nd 2+Gb one, which has now failed 3 times for me, so I'm giving up.

My initial impressions from the public display at Penny Arcade Expo where no NDA's were signed by the fans was that the game was difficult to understand at first without any manuals. Very unintuitive. However the gunplay felt solid and reminded me of a mixture of COD4 meets SOCOM. It should be no wonder because all the SOCOM hardcore players are sporting a major woody over this game.

The Beta (covered by NDA) has improved my opinion. That is all.

Took me 4 attempts. They appear to be using some sort of fubar'd P2P system for downloading patches. It's a known problem (at least in Sony Europe) but they didn't push out a patch yesterday (haven't checked today) so it's still an issue for some people.

Is this game still under NDA, or can I post about it?

Hi Lorekeep,
I'm late to the game and just found this topic.  Do you have any more beta keys, one of which I can have?

Say yes now.

Isn't this game now in open beta, or have i got my dates muddled?

NDA lifted then?  I've been capped and generally spoilt for games lately (uncharted + borderlands) so i haven't gotten on to download it three times.

Looks like open beta started last night. Took a little while to download, but the game is okay so far.

You can tell it was made by the guys who did SOCOM. So far that's a bad thing to me.

I was loving MAG during closed beta.  Leveled to 40 twice.  The squad/platoon leadership options are really fun and I liked the large scale combat even though level design basically turned it into 8v8 or 16v16.  Then I tried Bad Company 2.  Complete sensory overload in comparison.  Everything from combat to vehicles to destructible environments made the game really feel alive.

Now that I'm back playing MAG it feels slow and grindy.  At least healing people is still fun.
