Doing my annual viewing of said cinematic masterpiece.

Tim Curry and Ernie Hudson in one place is pretty much as good as a movie can get. It's all downhill from here, folks.

Also, stop eating my sesame cake.

Ernie Hudson and Tim Curry with their respective accents were indeed fun, but as for the movie as a whole, I can take it or leave it.

Good thing they're in it for the whole thing following Bruce Campbell.

I remember when Congo came out, and everybody that wasn't me seemed to be shitting all over it.  "Are you crazy?  This is awesome!"

They just don't make movies like this that often. sad

I have never wanted to stab an ape more than I did after hearing "AMY HUNGRY!" for the 6,000th time.

Yeah, ditch the weenie with the stupid talking monkey and make the movie Hudson, Curry, and Campbell having adventures, and I'll be a lot more predisposed toward it.

Heh. Campbell uses that movie as an example of how easily a movie can be fucked up:

Quote
''All right, you think you're all so smart?'' said Campbell. Then he challenged them to play studio exec as he pitched one of his past projects. ''I'm Frank Marshall,'' he began. ''I've produced all of Steven Spielberg's movies. Interested? Okay, I've got a book written by Michael Crichton. I'm going to get John Patrick Shanley, the Academy Award-winning writer of Moonstruck, to adapt it. It'll be shot by Allen Daviau, who did E.T. Will you make this movie? Well, congratulations! You just made Congo.''

"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Since Bruce Campbell is one of my favorite actors I spent most of the movie pissed off. Lol. They wasted Bruce!

No, they didn't. Looked to me like they milked him for some yammering and a scream. I mean, that's pretty much Bruce and I love the guy too. Spiderman was a waste of Bruce.

I watched Spiderman 2 in a French cinema and the French audience clearly found him the most hilarious part of that movie.

I still cringe at the thought of a giant space laser killing intelligent apes by way of satellites refracting beams of diamond light or something. That ending was just so fucking bad on top of bad.

There are a lot of movies people say are so bad they're good (examples: National Treasure, Starship Troopers) -- but for me, this is the one.   DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Even the fuckin' Amy little person in an ape-suit.  AMY ANGRY.
