Sort of goes into WTF mode towards the end, but you won't find a better, modern swordfighting flick.

And you don't need to know about the previous Zatoichi films (but you should!). This is a remake.

Funny, I just picked up Tokyo Eyes, with Takeshi Kitano, from the library a couple days ago. Still haven't watched either one yet.

Great film.  The ending just made it all the better.

Love Beat Takeshi films too. I think Sonatine is a fantastic piece of cinema, as is Hana-Bi.  He was hands down the best thing about Battle Royale, too for my money.  Hard to believe that he was a stand-up comedian and that he hosted that fucked up series "Takeshi's Castle".

The original Zatoichi movies, along with the Babycart and Hanzo the Razor movies, are great too and have aged relatively well. As for Takeshi movies my favorite is a tie between Brother and Hana-bi.

Oh, I don't just mean the bollywood ending.. It just seems like there were a lot of cuts or something too. Real choppy.

I think I've seen all of his work that's been made available in any form to the non-moonspeaking people of the world, and yea, he really can't do anything wrong. It's actually sort of creepy.

Wow, I somehow missed that. I'm going to rectify that by tomorrow night, if possible.

Edit: Going to Fry's tomorrow, looks like I have to buy it.
