Shitload of images behind the spoiler tag. Funny? Not funny? Different angle?

No, just what you see, which is what gets dumped into the screenshot folder when you mash the screenshot key.

In and of itself, not quite funny.  I could see it becoming funny down the line if you keep going with it though.

Well I was thinking about doing the childhood/guild prologue stuff in the above sort of storybook style, then switching to first-person commentary once our "hero" is out in the world on his own. The thrust of the whole thing would be to point out that what we're really seeing is a budding sociopath recruited as a child by a would-be ruling class of staggeringly self-centered violent elitists, and how they're eventually annhilated by what they've created.

Like I have a bunch of screenies of him beating the shit out of Whisper, getting yelled at by Maze, punching Maze in the dick, and then beating the shit out of Whisper again. The point isn't just "lol beating is funny" but also "He grew up with people who gave him weapons and let him do whatever the hell he wanted with no meaningful discipline."

I played through Fable as a good guy once. The simplistic hero yarn wasn't nearly as compelling as the "proto-fascists create their perfect monster, are laughably surprised when it turns on them" Frankenstein story you get if you play through evil.

It'll be funny if you do a good job writing out the story, on their own, not that funny.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I'm no expert, usual internetopinion caveat, and all that. But I think this is a good start for a long series of inherent contradictions. The voiceover sets the stage for what the viewer should expect, but instead they see that whoever is narrating the story just isn't paying all the much attention to how events actually play out.

It therefore feels more like an SNL skit than the foundation for an ongoing story.

Yeah, hilarious pictures of people getting owned would wear very thin indeed if I just cut loose with dozens and dozens of them in one long BG-style epic. I shall have to think on it. I really like the idea of doing something with Fable though, if for no other reason than the sheer amount of "shaved my head into a mohawk, got drunk, barfed on a whore, ran through the street naked and kicked my wife in the ass" misbehavior it allows without me having to totally fabricate it.

Plus the game is a whole lot more self-aware than it looks. That whole thing I said about the Hero Guild being sinister proto-fascists isn't just me hanging a lampshade on genre conventions from the outside. They knew it when they wrote it.

Honestly doing it in some video capture format might suit your needs better.

It seems like it could be made more comedic in stop motion with sound effects.

I meant those images, in a gif with stop motion and the same captions... In place of an actual video.

It's like a five to ten minute job.

That isn't stop motion. That's a slideshow. They are nowhere close to the same thing.

Anyway, in the course of dicking around with this game again I have decided that it is not only not bad, but is in fact pretty good. I don't know what sort of pocket-dimension matrix of infinite adventures Molyneux promised that turned people against the less-ambitious result, but taken on it's own merits it's quite nice.

I've liked both Fables quite a bit.  They were fun games.  Failing to deliver on hype really doesn't matter to me if the end product is enjoyable.

The only real problems with the original Fable in my eyes were: too short and can't play a female character.  Fable 2 fixed both of those.

I like the basic idea--you could do it a bit like Stolen Pixels at the Escapist. Might get old if it's just the character dickpunching everyone; maybe also doing stuff that's pretty much the exact opposite of whatever the various arsehole NPCs are telling him to do.

I tried to play through Fable as a bad guy once, right up until the point that little Timmy (or whatever) said to me in his sweet little voice "please don't hit me again, sir!".  It made me feel very bad about myself.  I prevent my own fun.

I actually thought it was pretty funny (not the animation, though). I think the disconnect from narrative combined with the inevitable punch as the period on the end of the sequence sells it. It might also be because I was just reading the Baldening again and have got Nythrax and his buddies' solutions to all problems on the brain. I also could see it getting very repetitive unless it's like a montage of this guy's trip through the game and only includes a few shots otherwise it would get too repetitive and lose its "edge". Some would say its already too repetitive, but I didn't think so. I'm obviously in the minority here, though.

EDIT: Quick look through them again to see if I really thought it was funny or it just caught me off guard. The first and last ones still crack me up with the punch being at the end. The others don't pack the same punch... err... so to speak. *cough*

It was easy for me to play evil in Fable 2.  Here I am, flirting with this lady, or trying to play with my kid -- in my own home -- when all of a sudden I'm surrounded by twenty guys throwing hearts at me.  Tell them to follow and one quick trip to an isolated area, there are twenty less suitors.  They made me stabby.

You convinced them they were going to get some twenty-on-one gangbang action. There's no other possible context. Then you brutally slaughtered them all. I salute you. That is some primo evildoing.
