Talk about cool web apps. I don't know a bunch outside of the usual (Google). Adobe's stuff is slick Buzzword, http://www.photoshop.comI can't connect my bank to Quicken Online, but stumbled upon Mint.com which I really like. ZenBe is the best email app I've seen, but they temporarily closed registeration for free signups. Old news to some of you probably (but that's why I made a thread. Educate me)

As far as Adobe goes, the only thing I use is Kuler ( http://kuler.adobe.com/) when I'm working on games, I use it ALL the fucking time. Hell, when I'm in photoshop doing ANYTHING I use it. The other problem Stray, is that for most things, there's no reason to use a webapp. You, however, have the most completely fucked up taste in software and preferences towards software on the planet. You need to be made aware of that, I think, if it wasn't already apparent.

I think my most fucked up choice in software is WriteRoom (not a web app).

http://baara.com/q10/Q10 > jDarkroom Just tried them both. In fact, I'm surprised I had to dig anywhere to find Q10. It's superb. (Q10 was written so you wouldn't need java or .net installed, it's basically the same thing as dark/jdark and writeroom)

Why? Does the Mac eat words? I ask because that is one of the things I find to be fairly pleasant on the Mac, partially because of the selection of nice apps for writing, and partially because I think the built-in backup and searching is superior.

But it's got better features while still being unobtrusive.

I type faster than letters appear on every Mac I've ever been on. or at least, in the Microsoft Suite. Also, the model M on my desk is plugged into my PC. My second keyboard (for the mac) is a compact one, don't want to write on that. Also, just found CeltX, it's nice. Very nice. http://celtx.com/

No, Celtx isn't any good for novels but is pretty good for script development and the collaborative tools are adequate too. For a free app, it's brilliant but generally I still prefer Final Draft. For other writing development, I've got Liquid Story Binder which seems quite useful. It normally retails for $50 but you can get it for free by through a Trialpay scheme. I keep meaning to make more use of it but most of my contacts use Final Draft so that still gets used. EDIT: Pipped to the post.

I also like Freemind mind mapping software in principle but I only really use it to capture stuff I've scribbled down. I find I work faster and more free with a pen and paper for an initial braindump then transfer it to Freemind for storage and more work.

I'm a little afraid of black obelisk's writer C'mon man... no delete? Seriously though, good idea for what it is. A bit too restrictive for me though. I don't always write creatively.. Sometimes it's just letters, and I don't need "momentum" per se.

Can't remember which one I did but I don't seem to get pestered about anything from any of them. Didn't have to pay anything either so all good apart from the hassle of signing up and then signing off.
