I'm going to have to buy this one tonight or tomorrow I think.  Looks like a lot of fun from some of the videos I've seen.  Anyone else picking it up?

At worst, me, Ard, and Sauced will be picking it up. I imagine Rattran will. Cory probably will too. I'll make Phildo pick it up whether he wants to or not. Moaner has no excuse either.

So yeah, I'm in.  I've got another non-f13 friend picking it up tonight.

I expect I will follow usual form by buying it but not playing it.  Like My Life as a Dark Lord and Left4Dead.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

My Life as a Dark Lord is a terrible tower defense game and shameless cash-in on My Life as a King's name.

Unacceptable imo.

Fat Princess otoh is awesome.

I hope they patch in local co-op or something.  Game is fun in single player.  But the online is frustrating since it seems broken.

When you get into game, it's a lot of fun.  I really hope they add in multiplayer split screen online.  Having to switch off with my wife as is right now.

I hope they release this on Live Arcade because my PS3 is not seeing much use.

It seems like people don't understand Socialism. Everyone keeps running around trying to be a hero instead of focusing on one task for the team. Several times the princess was easily retaken because no one bothered to fatten her up. Being a worker isn't as glamorous a storming the enemy castle, but that catapult ain't build itself.  swamp poop

I wish I had recorded the best BF1942 match I ever participated in. Half of each team was on the runway waiting for a plane to spawn (so they could shoot each other to get it and shoot at it when someone else got it), the other half were snipers trying to snipe the plan campers.

I had a fantastic time playing lots this weekend, and all I needed was five fucking minutes of patience to get a match.

Anyway, I did seem to get stuck on the "new kids" team just about every time out.  This manifests itself in a couple of ways, with the usual pickup group problems inherent to multiplayer games, and some added fun based on the game mechanics.

Each map has a slight shift to the basic fundamental approach that each player should be taking, regardless of whatever role they want to play.  The best way to insure victory is to have everyone understand this.  And guess what - they don't.  For example, on the Boat Map, the lack of Gates, Springs, and Ladders, means that Workers who gather resources after all of the units have been upgraded are doing nothing but lazily pad their point totals.  They might think they are helping, but they aren't.  Now, if they want to run around as a Worker throwing bombs at people, that's good clean fun.

And speaking of class upgrades, the trick to Fat Princess (well, this and understanding the minor tactical shifts on each map) is that the upgrades are not "better" - they are functionally "different".  Most players I seem to get teamed up with do not understand this (or refuse to accept it).  The warrior and ranger upgrades are for battling large groups, for example, and should be switched back to sword/bow in any 1-on-1 situation.  Playing a Dark Priest and never switching to Heal mode makes you a complete Asshole.  And so on.

Wait 5 minutes and play with me god damnit.

It's out in EU too, but I'll pick it up when I come back from holiday, with maybe some patching added. So what's the verdict: a blast?

I particularly like how tactics can be exploited in a variety of ways, but there always seems to be a ready counter, which usually seems to emphasize more and better teamwork.

Example:
At first I thought mage bombing was the best thing EVAR. Then I found some opposing teams that did it with 3 or 4 mages at once. As a result, I started using the priest area heal spell (which I had previously thought to be a little lame in comparison to the single target.) So far I haven't seen many opposing AE heal strats in effect, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

I've been playing solo online (12 slot game with 11 friend slots) to work on some trophies. I gotta say the references to sir mix-a-lot are comical in the help tips not mentioning the whole song in game credits  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

I picked this up, hell of a lot of fun.  things i've noticed:

1. starting a game seems better then trying to join one (at least until they patch it)
2. the longer you hold down your aoe the greater the effect (was not obvious to me at first)
3. the shadowpriest's AOE is almost crucial for getting a princess successfully (especially if charged to max)

It seems like developers don't understand Gamers.  They keep creating games where they expect the Gamer to spontaneously choose the class that is needed rather then the class that they would like to play or the class that seems so darn cool.  To make matters worse, the developer almost belligerently discourages players from playing a class that might be cool by creating a class description that makes it even more unlikely that anyone with a brain would like to spend their ENTERTAINMENT time playing.  After all, it's too much effort to be creative and give the support character some pizzaz.  For instance, instead of calling a class that is responsible for defense a "drone" or "worker", why not instead call him the "evil overlord" and make his character look cooler then all the others?

Is this so fucking hard?!

Giving the drone a bee's head and the ability to fly would be a start.
