Yes, I watched it. I think Louie was a ringer to bring whatsisname back. And is kicking people out early going to be a trend or something? He did that last year, too. I'm beginning to wonder if they choose obvious losers for this show, too. I love Gordon Ramsey but I'm afraid that there won't be many surprises from this show, which is unfortunate. I'll keep watching until I know for sure, though.

So far, except for the *return cook from last year*, there is no one that stands out, or is even likable at all.

Are they deliberately picking mentally unstable people? This Joseph guy is even more unbalanced than Matt from season 4.

What I wonder is about the caliber of the contestants.... Chef Ramsey is so popular and has so many connections in the food industry, yet he chooses a group of reject chefs who obviously can't even read instructions from a binder on how to cook the food. I understand there is a bit of pressure, but if they are 'truly' in the culinary industry you would think that this would be something they could handle. I just loved when Ramsey picked up about a garbage can full of pasta... his voice was priceless.

Yeah, obvious ringer was obvious. I didn't expect Joseph to be so fucking batshit, but then we've had reasonably sane people on a reality show for far too long here. The first two episodes of this season have made it obvious this one's beginning to circle the drain as they're getting more fame whores than folks with even a questionable culinary resume.

It was my first time ever watching this show and it was both horrible and totally fucking awesome at the same time. Thanks to Hulu I went back and spent most of the week watching season 4 (since it seems to be the first season they have up apparently) and its bizarrely addictive. This is Fox we are dealing with. They probably pick a bunch of dummies for drama effect. Sane, rational people who work well under pressure don't make compelling Lowest Common Denominator TV. Plus you have to be a little whacked to want to be on television in the first place so I am sure that helps bring out the loonies too. I guess they could do a second chancers show and just put all of the douchebags on and watch Ramsay go crazier than a conservative talk AM host. Who will need a restraining order put on them first? Yeah he is obviously making it all an act since his UK Kitchen Nightmares show (which I have caught recently thanks to BBC America and I find it interesting as hell. Unlike most Job Porn shows on TV its actually educational and gives me immense respect for people in the food service industry.) he is blunt, but not the raging anger management issues nutter Fox makes him out to be. This show has made me realize high priced dining establishments aren't anything I ever want to eat at. Any world in which biscuits & gravy is considered crap isn't a world I want to be a part of.

The first 2 episodes of this season were great... I couldn't take my eyes off. Who picks these chucklefucks? It doesn't seem like a one of them can cook, and most are either complete dumbasses or are 1 insult short of going postal.

As much as it seems like the folks on Hell's Kitchen can't cook, it seems like even the people who fail out of Hell's Kitchen in the early episodes are better cooks than most of the "professionals" he deals with on Kitchen Nightmares.

Most of those fucks just do what everyone does. They cut corners or spend more money than they have to and then usually charge too much. I swear half of Ramsay's advice could be summarized as "Get fresh local produce and meats. Make simple yet tasty meals with a reasonably sized menu at a fair yet profitable price. Also give a shit about what you are doing". Shit, the man could probably fix the world economy with a little tweaking. Kitchen Nightmares is similar in showing the stupidity of the western business world as Dilbert is. Many business people are completely fucking clueless. Even Hell's Kitchen shows how little most people know what they are doing for the most part. Lazy, sloppy, self absorbed and not giving a shit. For every Melissa You have a Jen or a Lacey or a Ben or a Matt or (as of episode 1 of S5) that incompetent cooking teacher lady. Even good people who generally know what they are doing and give a shit like Petrozza and S5 and now 6's fat dude fuck up under camera/pressure. Imagine what the self absorbed morons and incompetents are gonna do? Especially as their worst shit is what is going to be shown on TV. Watching an entire season of the show in 3 days REALLY makes it obvious what tricks Fox is pulling with it. And apparently all those diners getting free food and booze? Mostly actors encouraged to exaggerate their opinions according to some internet sources. I even bet S4's horribly flamboyant party planner isn't half that much of a gay stereotype in real life.

This show is like night and day to Top Chef but I don't think the contestants are as different as they first appear. HK is a toally different environment, Ramsay is totally different, the chefs often have to cook off a menu rather than choose what they're comfortable with, etc. There is a high emphasis on day-to-day kitchen skills and working in a somewhat realistic environment.

They do know the basics and whatnot - otherwise prep work would never be done in a timely manner. Its also obvious people are placed into positions they are not familiar with. In addition they use high stress with sleep deprevation to put the people into a constant state of fatigue- even winning the first challenge is bittersweet as the contestants tend to drink and kick back a little bit too much.
Its awesome entertainment!

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

You're saying that's not just a Southern accent? I was rooting for Robert last season, but he's been such a colossal dick this season that I was glad to see him go. I don't think Andy's good enough to be in the final two, but man would it be funny if he were and Robert had to come back for brigade duty.
