There are probably threads for this already. Sooorry.
Anyway my mouse is dieing and I need a new one. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I don't want a cheap one. I'd be comfortable spending upwards of 60 but would prefer in the 30-40 range.
It's got to be wireless. Anyone have suggestions with their favorite mouse? I need at least one button for the side (thumb) for my gaming needs as well as software allowing me to program the buttons with key presses.

I don't like the mouse shape of the G7. Me, I got an MX Revolution and I'm very happy with it overall. I like the shape a lot, feels very comfortable, and good charge (I can go for a good 25-30 hours, and that's using it almost constantly - plus it recharges rather quickly).

Double your price range since it's going to be something you touch every single day for a few years. Razer Mamba.

I got a logitech g9 and I like it's feel but you've got to be a retard to pay that much for a damn mouse.

I tried out a Sidewinder X8 before I got the Mamba. The X8 is a fantastic mouse, but you cannot remap all of the keys.
The only Mamba complaint I have is that it is very hard to update the firmware on Win7. I figured out how to do it, but it was about 90 minutes worth of trial and error.
edit: I guess I'm retarded in that way. I have nice steering wheels in my cars, for the same reason.
edit2: The Mamba and X8 will let you switch from wireless to wired in about 10 seconds. If, somehow, your battery goes out. I've had the Mamba since April and I've never came close to running out of juice. It has a charging pedestal that works even when the PC is off, but draws on USB power from your PC.

I don't need much more than my g5. Put all the weights in it so it's heavy as a mofo. Don't go wireless. Nothing worse than losing batteries in the middle of a session.

I don't think I can justify $130 on a mouse to the girlfriend. But maybe I can sneak it in. I'll have to find one to actually hold. I can't buy a mouse blindly. Do they have them at Bestbuy or any other retail store?

I really doubt Best Buy would have one period - much less have one on display. I wish I could help you out. It's a truckload of money to spend on the mouse, but it's essentially perfect. It's my first wireless gaming mouse. On 5400 DPI it's almost too fast for my old man reflexes.
Logitech mice are generally great, as are the Bluetrack MS mice. I have the Bluetrack Explorer for use at work. I wouldn't recommend it for gaming or EXTREME PHOTOSHOPPING, but other than that it's good.

Lachesis is a wired Mamba. The scroll wheel and battery LCD are the only notable differences. Totally unnoticeable though, except the wire.
Both the X8/Wired Sidewinder and the Lachesis/Mamba are better than the G7.
Edit: Oh, right, those two extra buttons are on the mamba left click. But honestly, I couldn't reach them.
Edit 2: Oh, the Lachesis has the same number of buttons, but the Lachesis has 2 more on the right side. I can reach those.

BestBuy carries the Mamba in store. I saw it on display at the one near me, but I'm quite happy with my corded DeathAdder, the Lachesis design does nothing for me.

I've owned a G7, G9 and currently a Sidewinder and I can say without a doubt that the Sidewinder is the best of the three.

I'll second this. I bought a Sidewinder off the advice from Schild and once I got used to it's different shape it's been awesome.

I thought the Death Adder was the wired Mamba? I use the Death Adder, I like it because it's a similar shape to the old intellimouse 2.0 that I used for years.

A buddy of mine recommended a Death Adder but that Lachesis looks good too. If it has to be wired, the wire has to be long and 7 feet might do it.
Whats the difference between the Mamba and the Lachesis? I mean other than the precision rating 4000 dpi vs. 5600 dpi (which I don't even know how much difference that makes) and the wire/wireless feature what else is there really? I'm not playing competitive FPS's but looking for a comfortable mouse with buttons for macros etc.
Edit to add: I picked up the Lachesis and a G15 keyboard today.

Slight Update: Not sure if I like the Lachesis. It's an odd shape and my fingers sort of lay flat on it. I'm not sure if it's a matter of getting used to it or not. Hmm.
I think I'll play with it today and maybe return it tomorrow if I still don't like it. I do like the button position for my thumb.

Razer products are the way to go, I've owned 3 in the last decade or so and they've all been great.
My only issues: -I once on my oldest mouse shoved the scroll wheel through the mouse, it was really the game Gunz's fault because k-style butterfly bullet blocking + shotgun + flying was probably the most demanding shit I've ever done in gaming. -The pads wear down but they give you replacement sets if you don't lose them and also I think you can order more if you need to. -Its sort of annoying that the mouse light never goes out if you sleep in the same room, I usually unplug it or drop something on it (washcloth, shirt, whatever) when a female is over. -My 2nd mouse I eventually damaged the right click button finish and the thin rubber started wearing off, I don't know if I didn't cut my nails or what started the problem but that sort of sucked. So I bought a new one and gave it to my little brother it works fine and really that was after 3-5 years of use so no big deal. -The fucking software can do annoying and wonky things at times.

I felt the same way. Then I used it for a week or so and can't go back to anything else. It is very responsive, too.

I really need to get a new mouse, but I am a "claw grip" mouse holder, and so the Razer ones dont work so good for me. Any one have any other suggestions?
I am currently using a Legitech MX518.

Played a little Anno 1404 last night and I think I'm getting used to it. I had to tone down the DPI rating. I was never meant to be a surgeon.

I like my cordless mx 600. It may or may not be great for FPS, but until the whole issue of broken players is fixed, I'm not worried about it.
I never worry about batteries running out in a session, the light on it blinks when they start running low and it takes 30 seconds to go into the kitchen and swap them out. I use rechargeables in it and they last for months.

I just had to swing by Best Buy for my work, and ended up playing with a Razer Mamba. That thing actually feels really nice. I might have to grab one, but fuck, $130.

I absolutely loved this back in the day: But seriously, for the last two and half years I've been using the Razer Copperhead and I really haven't felt the need to get a newer one by the same line (and the Copperhead is now probably cheaper than the spanky new ones, isn't it?).

I have only two problems with Razer mice (specifically the Lachesis). My first is the inability to left/right click while depressing one of the left-side buttons to transmit over ventrilo. This may be an artifact of having that button bound to "windows button 5" but I've never found a way to fix it. The second is that occasionally the mouse doesn't seem to be registered on boot (and I guess the fault for that could be misplaced), and I'm forced to disconnect and reconnect it before it can be used.

Thats odd, I have never had this problem with a Logitech. Well, maybe not never, but at least with my last 3 computers.

Mamba vs. Lachesis. I would of gotten the Mamba but 140 for a mouse is Lachesis for 80 was streching it. It's feeling better but until I get a real good session in my hand still feels weird on it and it aches from time to time.
