I submitted nothing. Looks like I would have wasted my time if I had tried, anyway.

Very surprised by the results; a lot of what I would describe as low-key songs. Kind of relaxing, actually. Thanks for this.

I didn't get any in, but not surprised as I only sent in 3.

Also, I was more trying to fit the album art, rather than the title... Was that wrong?

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

Having looked up what you sent in, the second song was in one of the last groups before it got filtered out.

Could the album *be* any more emo? awesome, for real
Easily. Hell, this album art isn't even particularly emo.

I blame schild's cover image.  At least I'll have something to listen to if I ever feel like scrubbing myself down with a loofah while taking a bath, after lighting some scented candles.

One of your songs lasted until the final batch but it got cut. Also, stop bitching and moaning.

Sweet.  Two of my songs made it.  I feel like I did just after killing Ragnaros.  A surge of excitement followed by emptiness.  I WON THE GAME.

Also, I have to give props to Schild for not fagging this up with a bunch of metal.  Nothing against metal in particular, but it would have made this little game completely pointless.  You don't see too many metal album covers like the one he made.

Don't mean to bitch and moan, and I don't really care that none of my songs were picked.  It's just the final product is... not what I was expecting when you were talking about how you've got 200 submissions and that they're "all over the map".  You said you wanted people to interpret for themselves how their submissions would fit in with the title and cover, but then with the final selection you picked one song that set the tone as you say, and then presumably picked other songs that fit with that (not surprisingly resulting in one person accounting for a third of the songs picked).

That's great for what it is, and I think it's cool what you did here and I look forward to you doing more, but might I suggest doing the next one in two parts?  Initial submissions done just like you did here, and then a second round where you post up the song you think best fits the tone you want (the Carla Bruni song in this case), and then saying "ok guys, this is what we're looking for, send more stuff like this", so we aren't wasting our time sending in rock songs for a hip hop mix or whatever.

wow, I so did not get that we had to tailor the songs to the album cover -schild- provided! I did this on half a cup of coffee at 7 am on a Saturday.

4. While we can discuss it in the thread, I'd rather each person figure out what the album cover, name, and picture should mean in terms of content. I figure it'll be more fun. Could be wrong though!

When I read that, I misunderstood. I though yours was an example of something you wanted to have contributed!

The album cover, name, and band name was randomly generated from that thread Fabricated made a while ago.

-schild- didn't have anything to do with that part.

Edit: Now I know why you attached an image I didn't download. ACK! Sorry if that was unclear.

I got two but one (Wish You Were Here) was probably sent in by multiple people.

I'm kind of surprised that One Way fit the final selection by the way, I also sent in Afraid of Sunlight by Marillion that I would have thought was a better match.

Tried creating a Spotify playlist out of the final songs, btw - but could only find 15 out of 19 songs. Anyway; The playlist (requires Spotify, obviously).

EDIT: Any chance we could see the entire list of submitted songs, schild?

I think this just goes to show how interpretation is wildly subjective. Nothing of mine got in, but props anyway to schild for running an interesting diversion. I look forward to the next attempt at this.

Listened to this, like most of it and I most of it was new to me. The only song I skipped over was the Baushaus one because listening to him was giving me a headache.

Seriously. It has nothing to do with none of my selections being picked, but, this list is horrible. Most of the songs make me want to stab my ears out. I am sure someone will enjoy it, but wow. Not what I was expecting at all. The only effect of a habit I hear in this is introspective "no one understands" tripe. Perhaps it should have been called "Songs to kill yourself by".  why so serious?

Meh, next one I hope will be better.

Awesome, thanks. Spotify rules.

And thanks for reminding me of Levellers. It has been almost fifteen years. smiley

Thanks for putting that together. Some old favourites, and some great tracks I'd not heard before (gonna have to listen to some more DJ Shadow I think). I had to skip 'The Streets' as that guy annoys the crap out of me.

The Spotify playlist is marked as "collaborative", by the way, so those of you who A) use the program and B) submitted songs that didn't get included can add them to the playlist there if you want :)

Quite a few people, I would imagine (myself included) not least because they both reached their commercial peaks at around the same time. I'd be more likely to suggest a Fish-era Marillion song though. The lass on the railroad track might well be a White Russian, racing the clouds home.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I think this mixtape is awesome and reflects a lot of time spent by Schild.  While I don't subjectively love every song, I can objectively appreciate the cohesion and mood, as well as most of the artists.  I had some friends over the other day and was playing the playlist, and they all commented on how sweet the play list was, and kept asking which bands were what.  And they were from diverse socio-economic backgrounds!
