There are so many more songs than I first thought >_<

Just short of 200.

Let's set the final date for this coming monday. I want to listen through all of them.

There were less than 20 on the list I'd heard before. Thanks for that.

I'm unlocking this for you all to make fun of my inability to listen to this many songs.

I remembered one right after you locked the thread, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Life By The Drop.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

That's still around 13-14 hours of music, which is a fair amount. Looking forward to seeing the end result of this.

While not condoning piracy, maybe everyone should send schild a mp3 of the songs they listed, and he can just bundle it in a zip file.

 Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I'm guessing it will be Youtube, thus the requirement for links.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Should be interesting trying to figure out who submitted what. I would've said SRV was submitted by me!

My submissions were a bit of a stretch in trying to meet the theme of the mixtape.  why so serious?

They made sense in my head though.

I didn't even spend this fucking long on the mixtapes I made for my girlfriend who dumped me in highschool.  Way to ruin a sweet idea.    Love Letters

I've been lurking with bated breath. Next tape needs more nihilism. :P

Looking forward to the final cut.

Just to let you all know, I've widdled it down by about 140 songs, going over the last 60 again. Some popular stuff made the cut just because it worked.

That said, the first thing I did was copy every single link and song title to a notepad document out of email in no particular order, that is, It was sorted by subject rather than date, so if none of your songs make it, I don't even know what songs people submitted as all the emails got archived and I've only been working from one giant list.

For one of the songs that made the cut, I was linked to a version with jarring sound effects from the attached movie.

I apologize way in advance, but I've relinked it to an anime fan video with no other sound playing over the track. Hahahaha. undecided

Edit: Also, there's no way for me to know, but some of you may have gotten more than one song on it.

Done!

Decided to go for one CD, just under 70 minutes which will let people resubmit for the second one should they decide to. Also, there weren't enough songs on point to do another whole CD.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Edit: Finishing the art, will post in a few minutes.

Wow, I may not remember games from the early eighties, but five of those songs are from my suggestions!

This is somewhat surprising and not planned.

Edit: That said, I looked up one song, the Carla Bruni song, which had set the tone for the whole thing and you had sent it in. So, I suppose it's not particularly shocking. That said, a lot of these songs were sent in more than once. Anyway, thanks!

I didn't get any, but that's not surprising considering I was stretching to make songs fit.  Ohhhhh, I see.

I just went through the archive and looked. You sent two emails with 10 songs a piece from totally varying genres (edit: and a day apart no less!). You hedged your bets! It's like buying 10% of the raffle tickets to win some pot luck dinner! Sneaky! Of course, if you want me to post some of your songs that DIDN'T make the cut, I'd be happy to.  awesome, for real

True, but no metal!

I sent the top ten played from my iPhone and then the top ten played from my laptop, I think.

So you're saying that it's largely your fault that this thing sounds like the soundtrack to a two hour long Oil of Olay commercial?

I blame schild's cover image.  At least I'll have something to listen to if I ever feel like scrubbing myself down with a loofah while taking a bath, after lighting some scented candles.
