Already mentioned here, but I figured we could maybe use a thread about it in MMO.  Feel free to delete this if I'm wrong.

Anyways, looks like Neo Steam launched.  It's Atlus' anime styled Steampunk thing.  Concept art looks cute, screenshots look like ass.  Otherwise, looks diku-ish.

The game's free to play, with some kind of weird tiered subscription thing supplemented by microtransactions.  I guess subscription buys you varying degrees of lessened death penalties, increased XP and GP rates, and "Enhanced Customer Support" (*cough*).  Microtrans stuff looks to be cosmetic and storage based stuff.

I got into the beta. I played for two hours and found nothing interesting or memorable enough to log in a second time. It's just another unimaginative Korean grindfest with Atlus' name stamped on it.

Terrible, terrible movement controls. You can click to move, which works, or you can try their half-assed WSAD implementation, which features laggy controls and rubberbanding at all times.

Very pass.

Atlus had nothing to do with this game. They just bought it up when it failed the first time and relaunched it.

Yeah, I got into beta also, and I had the exact same response.  I played it for like two hours, and uninstalled it.  There's pretty much nothing likable about this game, and I'm usually willing to give mediocre games a few days to wear out their welcome.

edit:  to give an actual comparison, instead of just a me too, it's extremely similar to Requiem in gameplay, but not as pretty, and without the few things that made Requiem different enough to last the few days on my hard drive.

I'm actually having fun.  Right click to move doesn't bother me at all, i liked it shadowbane also.  It doesn't feel very steampunky though.  I'm up to level 17 so far.

It's about as steampunk as a hello kitty calculator.

Clearly people need to learn to search <game title> gameplay on youtube before they download anything.  This looks like ass.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I'm an unrepentant Atlus whore, and I'm skipping this.

I've still got it on my desktop (I have no money, so free MMOs are my bread right now), but honestly, it's not very good.  If you want to give it a shot, I could fire up my level four rabbit guy, but really, there's nothing here.  Even the character creation blows ass.
