erg, I really did not like MI5. Bunch of poncy twats.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Thanks for the tops guys.
First, I only put Chuck and 24 on there because they are highly popular shows that I have not seen. Well I watched a little 24. I love Dexter, and Californication watched them all, same with Carnival. I think I will grab the Band of Brothers box set from my friend, I have seen half of it, but thats a good idea. I picked up BSG s1 disk 1 last night and I am going to give that a go.
I also think I am going to grab Mad Men.
As to House, I cant stand that show.

Mad Men
Seconded. People talk about how cool Mad Men is and about the portrayal of sexism and smoking, etc, but it all happens on top of great writing. The "things are not as they seem" plot style is good. And there are scenes like this.We have the first season in our Netflix queue also. We have cable, just always forget to watch. We can Tivo the second season after we catch up on the first. I really liked The Riches, but it got cancelled. If you don't mind watching just two seasons of a great show and not getting closure, then I recommend it. If you want some juicy soap-y kind of sexy teen drama I highly recommend Gossip Girl. Top Chef Masters starts on June 10. It's in the Tivo queue now.

I'm too lazy to read all the posts in the thread (apologies), so I'm sorry if someone has already put this forth, but I'm gonna have to say Breaking Bad

A poster signed by Richard Garriot, Brad McQuaid, Marc Jacobs and SmerricK Dart. Of course it would arrive a couple years late, missing letters and a picture but it would be epic none the less. -Tmon

Oh apparently this is what you're calling "MI5" because it was thought you wouldn't know the term spooks.

I would also recommend Carnivale, in some ways better than Deadwood.

I'm going to escape, come back, wipe this place off the face of the Earth, obliterate it and you with it.

If you fancy some nature documentaries, the Planet Earth series is outstanding in every way. Try to get the version narrated by David Attenborough for the best result. The sequence of the snow leopards hunting (which took them 4 or so months to get) is just brilliant.

The David Attenborough series The Trials of Life is similar, though not as cinematographically epic.

Planet Earth is good but I would recommend The Life of Mammals or The Life of Birds over it I think.

In the Valley of the Wolves is badass. The side story about the foxes almost had me bleary eyed. Almost! Freaks & Geeks, as mentioned earlier, is one of my favorites.

I own both The Life of Mammals and The Private Life of Plants (my personal fave Attenborough series).

The Life series were all good too, I just think Planet Earth is better for hitting a broader range of environments and organisms. Really you cannot go wrong with any of David Attenborough's documentaries though.

Really you cannot go wrong with any of David Attenborough's documentaries though. I feel like the writing/documentary work in Planet Earth is a little weaker, maybe in part because Sir David wasn't actually directly involved - he's just narrating in this case, whereas on those other series he was actually involved with the actual production. But then, I have a huge man-crush on him so I may not be entirely objective.

I started BSG last night. Was Season 1 Disk one supposed to be one long episode? Was like 3 hours long. I am a little confused.

I wouldn't watch Razor until later in the series. I can't remember if I even watched it, but I know it's related to events in season 2.

I recently obtained all four seasons via...sub-legal means (primarily because I wanted HD versions). Much of it is contrived, but all in all I think it is a fantastic piece of work. I've only just started season 4, though, so it may still manage to piss me off.
