Finished the first island.  The boss fight was frickin awesome.  Also, I found that the O (circle/1) button lets you drop down off a ledge or drop a level down if you're already hanging on a ledge, which mostly alleviates my only issue with the controls.

However, if your trying to be good you have to be very careful because if any of your crazy lightning abilities happen to accidentally hit an innocent bystander you take a nosedive towards neutral.  So essentially the gameplay becomes very tedious and frustrating if your trying to play a would be hero.

Actually, so far I'm liking that part of it.  I'm mostly speaking from the perspective of a comic book fan, since off the top of my head I can't think of any other "superhero" game that really tackles that aspect of the genre.

I don't find it that difficult to play a good guy.  I'm halfway through the second island I think, and I'm near the third good karma level and seem to be doing fine.  I do heal a lot of civs though.

I like this game a lot though, more than Uncharted even.  The controls and powers are so satisfying.

I'm about in the same spot and recently became Hero rated, haven't really had to consciously be careful to keep good karma. I do, like you heal most people I come across so maybe that cancels out the exploding cars, civs that wander right into my sights, etc.  Also about this halfway point Cole is already nicely powered, I'm really starting to feel overpowered to this dustman gang.

Beat the game a short time ago, and I loved every minute.  Well, except the 'destroy the bugs on my building' quests.  I'm wondering how long of a wait we'll have for the sequel.

I'm still gonna say that Uncharted is my favorite PS3 game still. If for anything, because of color! :P

I don' like it nearly as much as a Uncharted.

That said, about to finish the second island, I'll constantly at good/hero level karmic overload and I shock more civvies than I kill. There's no "difficulty" here in saying good or at least it's far easier than I expected.

Yah I can't say it's as well done as Uncharted.  Story is weak whereas Uncharted felt like a genuine b-movie, and the graphics aren't as good of course.  But I'm just a sucker for the powers and exploration aspect.  I'm nearly done with the game and so fair it hasn't pulled a roflcopter on the scale of Uncharted's last stages.

No, it doesn't fall apart like Uncharted did for about 30 minutes there.

I can't say the story really bothered me though, at least not like it seemed to burn every other reviewer.

If you are walking toward a ledge, the circle will have you drop down to hang in most cases.  Maybe it's not intuitive but you do need to push the stick toward the ledge.

My only issue with the controls is that the grip-magnet is a tiny bit too strong for my tastes, however this is just because it made it hard to get a couple blast shards.

I love this game so far.  First game in a long while that had me up until the wee hours just playing.

That said, I hope I can keep playing and don't lose interest like I did with Crackdown.

I'm glad that there have been a few new elements added to the missions as I moved to the second island, and a couple of them have been pretty interesting.

You found the characters to be far more attractive than I do, it seems.

I was just thinking about the karma and I have had my meter maxed in the second bar for like ever.  I have been reviving people all over and all I can seem to do is get it back up to full after a slight drop due to some egregious rampage.  I'm thinking the karma levels are hard locked based on where you are in the story, which is a bit lame.

I saw the same behavior in my game, busy being a huge goody two-shoes and rescuing kittens and whatnot, only to be stuck at 'sort of okay' on the morality bar.

This is correct.

From what I recall, you should be able to max out your karma in either direction during the second section of the city that opens up.

good luck meleeing the final boss to death if you focused too much on that.

I dunno, while I had maxed out my melee by the end of the game, I'd also gotten enough xp to max out just about every other power there was except for like thunderdrop.  If I'd actively hunted shards, I could probably have had all the powers maxed.

Shards don't give xp for powers, they just extend your power bar "battery"

Unless my memory's off, while collecting a set number of them increases your max storage, each one you find also gives you 5 xp.

Edit:  Yeah, just loaded up a save to check.  'Blast Shard Found 5 XP'

I thought he meant getting xp while exploring for shards.  Cause yeah, there's only 350 of them and getting 5xp off each isn't going to get you too far.

By itself, no, but it helps.  But the main point was, and I probably should have stated it like this at first, doing all the sidemissions and everything had all the main attack powers maxed out for me along with most of the support or secondary attack skills.  And that playthrough, I didn't really bother collecting most the shards.  Between the xp I would have gotten for those, and the enemies I'd have come across while running around, I'd have had even less stuff that wasn't at max rank.  I also healed everyone I came across, which is 3 xp a pop.  Not much by itself, but when you add up everything together, it can make a big difference.

Maybe xp's harder to get if you do an evil playthrough, I haven't started one yet.

I didn't even notice that they gave any XP at all.

Though maybe they don't on Hard. Healing dudes gives nothing on Hard either. I think XP is lower across the board.
