I ran into THIS the other day and it reminded me of so many of the adventure games I loved in simpler times. If you haven't seen it before, it's a fun way to blow time.

Gaming nostalgia can be found in bucketloads here tho I'm sure most of you have already seen it.

Why the hell does Motas describe the Commodore logo as strange. There's nothing strange about it damnit, lot's of greatness though.

I see somebody beat me to the Peasant's Quest link. Ah, nestalgia. (Granted, when I started playing games, something like Kings Quest was a half-decade away. The original Wizardry or Mail Order Monsters, now that's what I call gaming nestalgia.) I saw a commercial today that reminded me that too much gaming nestagia can be an ugly thing. Good god, people, get an emulator or something if you can to play crappy 2-bit games.

You know I would have sympathy for you, but the damn word was already used in the thread. By someone who's link you mentioned in your post.
Stop being dumb.
I still drag out my NES from time to time, and one of these days I'm gonna pull the Atari 2600 out for some Pitfall :)

I'm not sure if repressing the inner grammar/spelling fascist really fits the definition of "sympathy". As for telling me to stop being dumb... well, you wouldn't be the first on F13. That shouldn't matter - I should have the freedom to not have to check every damn word I type sometimes, shouldn't I? Get off my case. That I feel the need to have to explain this to you, now that's dumb. I guess you could say it was a stupid job, but somebody had to do it. Better yet, don't. Anywho, it's not that I have anything against nostalgia. I've been computer gaming for over 20 years, I've got bucketloads of it. I just find a lot of these "play crappy old games on TV" devices people are peddling these days a bit repulsive. Much like how I'm moritfied to see people selling Commadore 64 games for $20. These are old games, the people who made them aren't making money off them anymore, better to download them and run an emulator than pay those parasites.

These pages say you're wrong... First time I ever saw a computer that wasn't in school it was running Kings Quest 2, so Peasant Quest brought back a lot of memories... Spent a lot of hours playing just about every Roberta Williams creation I could get my hands on. Hero's Quest alone ate about half my childhood I think.

Good god, people, get an emulator or something if you can to play crappy 2-bit games. Actually that Joystick IS a Commodore 64. The hardware designer (Jeri Ellisworth) actually made a single chip C64. Some guys have already soldered some wires on to one and hooked it up to a keyboard and it will work just like a real C64. Including loading programs and such. Plus it has Impossible Mission, California Games, and Pitstop 2 on it. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION DAMMITALLTOHELL!! Oh yeah. And while the C64 Wizardry got released mid-late 80s, its original Apple 2 version was 80-81.

Shut the fuck up and find me 'Lords Of Chaos' bitch. Can't really say I practice what I'm preaching. I've dabbled a bit with a C64 emulator before, but it's been awhile. Shouldn't be too hard to find somebody posting up their C64 disk ROM collection. Those games are ancient, and I doubt most companies bother to pursue the copyright on them. Nonetheless, I'm not sure if posting a link that leads to where to download C64 games is considered kosher or not with the board admins here. I'm sure they'll let me know if they'd prefer I don't. (I'd better stock up on bandages and prozac to prepare for that possibility.) These pages say you're wrong... Hmm, I was pretty close. 4 year gap instead of 5 year gap. I'm surprised Wizardry and Mail Order Monsters were released in the same year. As for the nostalgia angle, to each their own. I started out on a Vic-20 when I was like 6 years old. Radar Rat Race and Omega Race (Vic-20 cartridge versions) are the earliest games I can remember. They aren't all that great by today's standards, but it's interesting to see where computer games came from. Actually that Joystick IS a Commodore 64. The hardware designer (Jeri Ellisworth) actually made a single chip C64. Some guys have already soldered some wires on to one and hooked it up to a keyboard and it will work just like a real C64. Including loading programs and such. Impressive. A pity 1541 disk drives are rare in this day and age, or I'd say solder one of those bad boys up and see what loads. Plus it has Impossible Mission, California Games, and Pitstop 2 on it. IMPOSSIBLE MISSION DAMMITALLTOHELL!! Yep, was reading that. Apparently most of the big Epyx titles are on there. I played the hell out of Winter games back in the day... Never did finish Impossible Mission - that time limit was a bitch. Now if they had Mail Order Monsters, Moebius 2, and Autoduel on there I'd be floored. This is encouraging: "Game download and connected joystick multiplayer functionality not available on this release. Available soon!"
