TrailerI'm putting this here for completeness, not because I think more than two of you would actually like it. Of those two I expect no more than one might admit it. It's a goth musical, previously a stage play. I liked the music and the photography, story made as much sense as any other opera. Actually, it really is an opera and features Sarah Brightman, so... yeah. If you watch the trailer you will know if you want to see it or not.

Very strange but i dug it. Not nearly as awesome as Rocky horror picture show. For a musical most of the pieces suck which i found odd.

Wait... what? It looks cool if it just wasn't a musical. I can't stand musicals. And Paris Hilton? LOLWUT?

Paris plays a spoiled rich girl with a plastic-surgery addiction. Also her face falls off at the end. Her best role, really, and quite a lot of it was left on the cutting-room floor.
Don't ask how I know so much about this.

The musical scores are mostly shit but it is a neat movie.

Trailer does a good job of making it look pretty cool. But I'm no fan of musicals either. For instance, people raved about Sweeney Todd, so I watched it, and reaffirmed my feelings on musicals.
So, I think I'll just leave it at watching the trailer.

The ironic thing is, all of the people that have mentioned this to me have been Buffy fanatics because of A.S.H. Whereas, every time I've mentioned it to people that I know that used to be in the eyeliner-n'-clove-cigarettes brigade they always respond with 'Wut? Ogre's in a rock opera? You're shitting me!'

Giles far outshines Ogre. Ogre is probably one of the worst acted/sung roles in the movie.

I've only seen the media off of the site, but yeah, he looks pretty egregiously bad. Ogre doing a musical is probably about as successful as Neil Diamond doing gansta rap.
That said, I'll probably still buy a copy when it comes out on DVD, just to have it in the library.

I saw A.S.H. playing Frank N. Furter in a live Rocky Horror in Liverpool a fuck of a long time ago. He was awesome and it was a very funny night. That was long before Buffy and only shortly after he stopped being the Nescafe man.
Nearly picked this up on DVD the other week but decided it wasn't worth it. Having seen that trailer, I think I'll have to reconsider. It looks seven shades of ossum. Missed the fact that Ogre was in it too.

Ogre being in it is only entertaining if you know who he is already. The role isn't incredible or anything.
Apparently I'm the only one that liked the music.

The music really isnt bad its just a couple songs are of far higher quality than the rest. The one with the gravedigger going on about zydrate is by far the best.

If you watch the 'making of..' bits they pretty much come out and say that Zydrate Anatomy is the strongest piece, tho I liked Legal Assassin as well.

I think Testify was good, and some other stuff, but yeah... Zydrate Anatomy was catchy.

That looks pretty awesome, I remember hearing about this quite a while ago but it predictably fell off the map. The song played during the trailer sounds pretty good, was it one of the bad ones?

The only one I did not like was Seventeen.

The first bit was We Started this O'pra Shit', and the second half was 'Legal Assassin', both gooder ones. EDIT: Actually got the right name off my iPod.

Looks interesting, not much a fan of the music in the trailer and I get the feeling I probably won't be much a fan of any of the pieces but I think I'll give it a go. Also was it just me or did anyone else start thinking of the Monty Python Organ Donation sketch when they watched it?

I really enjoyed it. It was the first movie I have watched twice in one night in ages because after the first one my final reaction was WTF! So I had to watch it again.
The seventeen song is probably the weakest song but there are a number of other ones that I really enjoyed. My brain kept going huh every time paul sorvino started belting songs in a classical opera manner I was very surpised to used to seeing him as a gangster in movies I guess.
Its one of those movies you will probably enjoy or you will loath and not much in between.

I watched this last night, and it was awesome. I think ill pick it up on bluray, just to see the CG bits better. This movie had everything, and i think in isolation all the parts were OK, however all combined created a fantastic film with horror, suspense, opera and music, and some dam fine acting for the format, the production values were astounding for a film that was someones pet project.
