If you don't care about an "anime aesthetic" - Valkyria Chronicles.

Otherwise, Resistance 1.

Killzone 2 will have the most multiplayer activity though, if you care about that. Likely followed by Resistance 2.

Uncharted - Action/adventure is what it's all about.
MGS4 - The narrative aspects may drive you crazy.  Count your money while you wait or something. I liked the action aspect of it better than I would a standard shooter.

If you haven't purchased it for another system, you could always give RE5 a go.  I'm sure the final flows a bit better than the jarring demo.

Edit: Yes, Valkyria Chronicles is a gem.  I just don't think you'd be able to get past the presentation.

Only MP I really care about is co-op play.  Competitive MP I leave to m/k on the PC.  

I'd forgotten about the MGS series.  Had tons of fun with those on the PS2.  Don't have RE5.  Yet.

Read a rumor somewhere that there was going to be a 100 price drop in April.  Any truth to that?  Or just some guy speculating out of his ass?

I hate anime, I think it looks like ass but I loved Valkyria Chronicles.

Little Big Planet was also fun and not something you might think of as a 'proper game'.

Little Big Planet.  Ugg.  Ninja levels.  Uggg.  I wish I never got that game as a gift.  I don't think it's a bad game; I just really dislike it.
