A member of my guild got it in the Van Cleef dungeon. It was a defias leather armor chest piece and it looks to have another 5 or so pieces that go with it. He's banked it in hopes that over time we might finish the set. From Thottbot: Armor

The other pieces drop randomly through the dungeon, i picked up the boots on the way to Vancleef. The sad thing is the chest you receive for completing the quest is so much better than the set piece that i doubt anyone would wear it.

Probably not by itself, but with the other pieces maybe, especially if you're a rogue

There's a set in wailing caverns. Armor of the Claw. From what I hear, it's good druid or shaman armor, having bonuses to nature magic show up at the 3 piece point. I don't know anyone that completed a set so not sure what the full bonus will be.

Too bad soulbinding makes the idea of completing these sets pointless. You're going to outlevel the newbie sets like the Wailing Caverns one in no time. It would have been only good for twinks.

Basically, if you are the only person rolling on the set, you've got a pretty decent shot at it after 5-6 runs of an instance. I know a level 20 druid in my guild has 3 pieces of the WC set armor, and he's not even close to outleveling WC. Still seems fairly useless to really care about in the lower levels.

Aren't these soulbind on equip? So, you could sell them / trade them if you want to, as long as you don't put them on. Or are they soulbind on pickup? That would suck. Maybe if you get lucky and play with friends who aren't rogues or already have something better they'll pass on it.

I believe the set armor pieces bind on pickup. I remember quite a few loot fights during my WC days.

I believe the set armor pieces bind on pickup. I remember quite a few loot fights during my WC days. Yea, two types of soulbinding: [*]Bind on Picked Up. Binds to whoever loots it. This set in the VC dungeon is this. [*]Bind when equipped. Anyone can pick the item up and trade it, even if they can't equip it. If they can, and do, equip it though, it's bound.[/list:u]

I just got the Blacked Defias gloves yesterday, and they weren't bind on pickup (group paladin traded them to me for another 2 pieces of green armor I got).

Hmmm. I don't know what anybody else thinks, but to me this bind business sounds pretty bad for low-level gear. With diablo 2 one of my favourite things was to find twink uniques/sets (unless I already had the item in question). Actually, I think I preferred it to finding something that a high-level char could use. There's nothing like powering up a low-level with a great unique/set then muling it for the next char when he outgrows the item.
Binding of low level stuff just means that it becomes useless at some point. You can't sell it, you can't twink it, and you can't use it? Meh.
I don't think it will affect whether I will purchase this, but it really doesn't sound good.

It's usually not a problem.
However, it does increase the amount of equipment used in the game (good thing, imo). For example, if I had a friend who was 5-6 levels below me and wore the same armor as me, I could effectively keep him stocked with good gear as hand-me-downs. The bind system means that if I wear the "good" equipment (stuff that gives stat boosts, usually) that I can't do much but sell it.. thus forcing us to either buy more equipment or go find more. But that also means if I find green items he can use, as long as I don't wear them myself, I can give them to him (or sell them, or whatever - but it's stuck with whoever wears it first).
All quest items are bound to you only (whether you wear it or not) which can be annoying when your rewards are either a) a staff, or b) a wand - neither of which a rogue can use. So, the only thing you can do is sell it. However, this does prevent me from doing some level 20 quest for my friend Bob (who is level 15) and giving him the good quest item.
(Another note on that: quest items aren't restricted by level, so if you complete a level 20 quest at level 15, you can conceivably get a really good item for your level .. where a normal drop would require a level 18ish char to wear something comparable).
All in all, I think it can be annoying at times (quest items you can't use), but for the most part it's not a big deal. I can still sell the quest items to a vendor which in and of itself can be lucrative.

The ones I've seen have been bind on equip. Needless to say we've not equipped them. Our idea right now is to try and complete the sets and sell them on the auction house.

Completed the Wailing Caverns set: Lady Anaconda drops the belt. Since she's near the entry, you can enter the instance, fight to her, kill her, leave the instance, disband/reform group, rinse and repeat until you get it - probably the hardest to get. Cobra Commander drops the leggings. Lord Pythas drops the chestpiece. Often. Random druids drop the gloves and boots. All information is subject and should be treated as untrue.

You're fucking lying! There CAN'T be a "cobra commander" in the game... can there? LOL... I can reliably inform you that there is also a Connor MacLeod parody (The Islander) and a Gamera parody Elite Turtle in the game also :P, so i definately wouldnt put it past them.

There are characters named PIXEL, and at least one goblin NPC says "WAAAZZZZZZZUP!" when you click on them. I would not put it past them in the least to have Cobra Commander. Though, he really should scream out "COB-RA-LALALALALALALALALA" when you aggro him.

/v silly For some reason the volume on /v silly is really low to the point of barely being able to hear it. Yet I can hear, "I need more mana!" as loud as church bells. Annoys me to no end.

I suppose you also think it is unnorigional that Asherons Call had a running gag based on Hitchhikers Guide To the Galaxy AND that the Tardis was occasionally seen making appearences in the game as well.
There is nothing wrong with referential humour. I mean, hell, when I saw Gam-oorah the Turtle in Blackfathom Deeps, I just about fell out of my chair laughing. I was even mildly dissapointed that it didnt fart flame and charge you during combat.

Boneshield++ :) Pale orchid fuschia and goldenrod lemon may have many uses as livening colors, but they don't work with me. Or any tauren. This is a night elf druid outfit and it shows. However, this outfit does look faaaaaantastic on trolls, especially when they's blue trolls. By the way, I just call him Cobra Commander - his real name is Lord Cobrahn or Lord Cobrain or something.

Man that's fagtastic. In a flamboyant "Mr. Slave" kind of way. See, this is why WoW's graphics just get to me. Stylized != Good. For example - Alien Hominid is stylized in a good way. So is Viewtiful Joe and the Japanese Naruto (GC) fighting games. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne is stylized in a good way. WoW, not so much. In summation: Jeeeeeeeeesus Christ. Edit: I guess the palette works for this guy:

I don't know if it's at that link (not viewable from my job) but there's a low level quest to kill kobold rats called "Rat Catching"... which is also the title of a book written by Crispin Hellion Glover (yeah, George McFly).

In Soviet Russia, Unoriginal is a Blizzard. Heh, odd that Wailing Caverns was in the WoW alpha well before EQ2's alpha was even a twinkle in Koster's eye. Apparantly, Blizzard uses a time machine to facilitate its unoriginality. PS: Thottbot shows no "Cobra Commander" in WoW, either. http://www.thottbot.com/?s=cobra Presumably, he's nicknaming Lord Cobrahn (an almost-equally silly name)

When did references to pop culture all of the sudden become unoriginality (especially when they're done in an obviously joking manner)? Common, you're looking for the hate a little too much here. Personally, I laughed when I saw a "Clarice Starling" among the undead.
