I've got a huge MMO itch, but I just don't want to be alone in the game.  I'd like to have ppl to chat with.  There still a decent amount of you guys online and playing?

Or just go alliance on Doomhammer. There's quite a few there.

Just pick a high-pop server.

It's WoW. There'll be people around. How much help they'll be is debatable, but if there's enough, you'll find things to do.

The BR guild is still up on Venture Co. (H), though I'm the only one who's logging these days.  Mostly I'm on Cenarion Circle.  If you land on a server that I've got a guy on, I'll try and help, but I wouldn't recommend joining a server just for the privilege of my company (awesome though I am).

I don't ever recall seeing a Dren-anything on Whisperwind.

But then again, I tend to wander around in a daze most of the time. And I avoid Dalaran like the...umm, well...the plague.

I'm close to having my fifth lvl 80.  5 other lvl 70's to work on.  I've .... been around.  I only go to Dalaran for professions and regret it everytime.

What's so bad about Dalaran?  Spamming from gold sellers or something?

It's pretty laggy.  That's really the only problem I have with it.

Dalaran is laggy for sure. In addition, am I the only one that thinks that place has the shittiest background music in all of Northrend? Really bad chorus and crescendos that are too loud and annoy the crap out of me.

It's claustrophoblic, filled with idiots with oversized mounts, and...it's filled with more idiots with all sizes of mounts. The sewers are slightly better (and what that says about Dalaran I'm not sure I want to know).

Funny you should mention gold sellers. They're the usual nuisance they've always been, but a new/old dynamic has crept into WoW recently that needs go to the wall: beggars. Yes, a blast from the EQ past: lowlife scum begging for gold at banks, the AH, and assorted tradeskill areas in cities. This last weekend I could have sworn I was in Rivervale with gnomes subbing for asslings. I may have to get a set of old world twill to wear when I hit the AH; the orange glowie armor seems to attract these leeches. Oh, if any of you pieces of ambulatory excrement see this post, I do turn your sorry asses in for harrassment, even though ignoring your worthless selves isn't particularly difficult. My silence isn't golden.

I had someone once repeatedly open a trade window with me demanding I give him gold.  Oddly enough, this was a tactic that didn't work well for him.

Basically, he offers 5g but doesn't hit accept. Waits about 30 seconds, then bumps it up to 50g but doesn't hit accept. Waits a few minutes, bumps it up to 500g but doesn't hit accept....

The goal being see how long you can get them to hold the trade open before they storm off in disgust.

Once, someone begged me for something.  I said no.  I also said I would be sending them a bill for my time used in writing my response.  True to my word, I sent them an itemized bill with costs such as 'per character used in my response' and so on (and with a little extra humor, I COD'd a 'cracked bill' since you can't send an empty COD).  To my surprise, my bill was paid.

Oooh, I got to try that.  I'm rarely in Org long enough to actually get accosted face to face anymore.

Some of my favorites are to say "Sure, I can spare some cash. Meet me at the top of the bank.", then just never show up. They'll continue to send tells, and you can keep giving them excuses or say that you're there and I don't know why they can't see you.  This can go on for a while.

Or you just ask them a really difficult question or just a difficult to type question. No one has ever answered "Ok, I'll give you the gold if you can name every US state capitol in reverse alphabetical order."

Lately though, I've gone with a simple "no".  Pure laziness on my part.

Your server only just got full enough to have them, then.  I've been dealing with their nonsense for the last 4 years. Begs for mats, begs for gold, begs for dungeon runs, begs for elite kills.  I long ago gave up being creative or even replying and just report spam on them now.

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

Yep, I ignore any requests immediately from people I don't know. Then when my ignore list gets full, I delete all but the last one and start over.

Most people would either just continue "OMG PLZZZZ GIV MONIEZ" or just go away entirely.

One guy actually did. Just the one though. He ran off, went to kill owls or whatever, cooked them up and came back to me after 10 minutes or so. A gave him a few gold for his trouble.  Heart

I put them in my sig just in case someone knows me by one of those names and not Chinchilla.  I usually go by St Drahcir or Drahcir, but since everyone here met me as Chinchilla I used that as my name.

I'm gonna dig through this post and join one of the servers that has the most active bunch of you guys.  I'm gonna be trailing this game very soon.

A buddy of mine opened a trade with some beggar in IF one afternoon, turned off auto-clear AFK, put 1500g in the window and did not hit accept and went to watch the Cubs. Every 10 minutes or so he would come back and give us status updates on the "trade". He had that window open for over an hour with the beggar sending him tells every minute or so "CUM ON MAN HIT ACCPT!!!!!"

I once told a beggar that my money was tied up in the bank and I'd have to pay a transaction penalty to get it out. If he would just loan me the money for the penalty...

I almost got him to give me the money.

I never get beggars, but I rarely show up in town for more than a minute.

I get random out of nowhere tells to run people through instances though. Like, when I'm in Naxx.  awesome, for real
