Happened to me too. It's done by webcrawlers looking to game up their google listing. Ways to fix:

1) Have comments autoclose after 3 weeks (crawlers like to pick old topics that no one notices)

2) Have the "enter this string of gibberish" graphic generators. So far no crawler's been able to crack those.

I played with the settings a bit. I don't actually care that people spammed it. i was more annoyed by the fact I got an email for every comment they posted. Fixed that, too.
