Last name Thompson. Baby boy coming in May. Briefly brought up the name Hunter to wife. Got totally shot down. Le sigh.

Cool, same last name here, although it's spelled a bit different (Scandi).

Yeah, too bad about Jack. Cool name. Bad combo.

Hell though, with all of the unique type of names out there, you should go with something like that. Sam, Jack, John, Michael, etc.. Still cool names. There's a severe lack of newborns with names like that. ;)

Yeah they're all Hunter, Cody, Ethan, Daniel, Noah, Aiden, Caleb etc.

It's odd to see Michael drop down to #54 on the list these days. It used to always be in the top 10-20.

It's actually a nickname.  Apparently it's used by a lot of east coasters in place of John.  One of my good friends uses it.

Damn good name though. Hats off to any Jacks here.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

My plan, however, is to marry a girl with a K name (I'm a K), and just name all of the kids with K names. Sure, I'm "k"ockblocking ( rolleyes) myself by doing that, but that's the plan.

Wifes latest plan is Gage for first. I get to pick middle which will be Andrew after my bestest buddy in the whole wide world. I can compromise that far. Not that I won't be thinking of the kid from Pet Sematary every time I look at the lil bugger.

You should go with Brock for the first name. That way even if he's a wuss, he'll sound like a secret agent.

What happened to good old solid names like James and Michael?  I teach two large classes this semester and the names on my roster are frightening.

Archibald Windows XP Service Pack 3 Thompson.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Try to slip Darcy by next time.

You should be hitting the begining of the '90s babies.  Didn't traditional names go out of style around then?  I suppose it depends on the name itself, but having a unique name can be a lot nicer than being one of four Amys, Michaels, Johns, or Jennifers in your class of thirty.

My band started numbering Jennifers. I do not exaggerate. There were so many Jennifers we couldn't keep track anymore, even with nicknames. Oh, Jen 18, you wild, wild creature, you.

Jennifer. From Guinevere.

In that case, I might opt for the latter. Not enough Guineveres these days.

Awesome. First thing I thought of, too.

I always liked Silas for a boy. Si for short, like Si Zentner (trombonist on the Dr. No soundtrack).

On a sidenote, Ursula is the name of the chick with Bond. I wonder if that could last these days. Not sure if it's "Mildred" territory or not (mildred was my grandma's name btw...  sorry grandma).

I used to go with a punk go-go dancer named Guinevere once. Her roommate was a skinhead who took acid and watched Looney Tunes all day. That was so much fun. Especially since I had acid and nazi paraphernalia, we got along great. Ursula is a great name.

VL: Sy is a great name. Especially if you're also a client.
