In HD at gametrailers.

Also an interview video.

The game was shown off to the press the other day and the embargo has now been lifted so most major sites have preview articles up.  The release date is going to be announced at E3.

I can't help but see the QTE icons and realize those camera angles are a filthy lie. The shiny wore off in 2 for me.

Having only dabbled in the GoW game on PSP, this looks good to me. I won't be buying a PS3 for it, but I'm sure there are plenty of people who will.

Kids these days... When I was young we didn't have XO^[] called out for us on a screen... we had to pump quarters into Dragon's Lair and figure that shit out for ourselves.

It's awesome to watch, and Kratos is a badass.  But screw the DDR button pushing sequences.  It's just not for me, I suppose.

Sounds like they got rid of some of the QTE's actually.  In particular I heard that when you jump on the back of a cyclops, that's no longer done through a QTE.

I hate QTE's but god damnit I love me some God of War.  It probably has something to due with my love of ancient history/mythology and ultraviolence.

My love of Greek Mythology makes me despise God of War in some ways.

I mean Pandoras Box as a Mario mushroom?

At the same time, this video also reminds me of what the series has so frequently gotten right... scale. Not only does the combat feel giddily epic, but every setpiece is presented in the most epic fashion possible. You see the scope of the fight before you wade into it, swinging flaming swords on chains. You climb onto the shoulders of gods, stick prods in their temples, then drive them about like bucking steers. You fight through hordes of tissue paper soldiers not to get points or powerups, but because Atlantis is ending and you'll have to jump that impossible crevasse a quarter mile away (that one, see it there?) as the island buckles, splits, and sinks into a boiling maelstrom of lava and sea... so please, keep running.

Yeah, the QTEs are a cheap way to inspire interactive awe, and killing the minotaur that way gets old after the fifth go. But then Kratos looks out over a vista and I realize what, exactly, I'm about have to make that poor bastard do... and all is forgiven.

if at last you do succeed, never try again

Even if it's the game engine rendering it, it's still a CG trailer, not actual gameplay with gameplay camera angles, etc.

Not saying it won't be good, but awesome game trailer doesn't mean anything by itself.

You're welcome to argue over the semantics of how scripted or not it was, but that was all in-game engine assets, and all the gameplay so far revealed to be available was shown in action in that very trailer, with UI and "game-y elements" such as xp orbs and what have you removed.  Also, the talk about Shadow of the Colossus being an influence for parts of the game have me very interested, even more than I would have been before.

God of War 3 motherfuckers!
