One of Capcom's worst kept secrets, Dead Rising 2 has been officially confirmed to be under development by Blue Castle Games (MLB 2K8, The Bigs, MLB Front Office Manager) with help from some members of the original Dead Rising team.  This news comes a few days after this trailer was leaked, which now appears to be legitimate as Capcom has stated that the game will be taking place in a gambling-themed location known as Fortune City.  So far PC, 360, and PS3 development has been confirmed.

Stoked.

Just get rid of the time limits and some other stupid stuff like the respawning prisoners in the courtyard and you can count me in.

Oh, and no more escort missions.  That goes without saying.

I liked escort missions.  The key was to give everybody you were escorting a gun or a katana or something.  Of course I wouldn't mind them doing a lot more work on the AI and pathing for the people you're saving.  Time limits were never much of a problem for me either (just meant you couldn't do everything in the first run-through), but I think they are getting rid of a lot of that in the Wii version of Dead Rising, so we'll see how that works out.

It's also good to see that Keiji Inafune is continuing to take an active role in working on this series.

I didnt mind the respawns or escorts so much, but the time limit has to go. Absolutely ruined the game for me.

In what respect?  Was it the time limits on progressing the main story arc, or just the time limits to get to NPC's and rescue them before they died.

I thought the Time Limits was good. The game was meant to be replayed. Gave it a quaint quality to it.

Also...

VEGAS BABY!

Looking at that video, all I wanted was for them to throw the life indicator in the PC's back, a la Dead Space, and keep the screen HUDless like that.

They're getting rid of like half the game in the Wii version.

The time limits on the main story arc. It wouldn't have bothered me for saving side characters for bonus points or whatever. It wasn't even time LIMITS that really were the deal breaker, it was that I went through the story too fast and was told I had to wait. Being able to play through a game at my own pace is key; I felt like I was in an MMO and they just added in timesinks.  swamp poop
