After participating in both Stress Tests and the Open(ish) Beta, I actually had a blast with this title and ordered the "Sucker Edition."  I'm not a Blizzard fanboy nor do I own any other Blizzard product beyond Diablo 1 & Warcraft 2 but: the guys over at SOE should be taking pointers from Blizzard's promotional dept/art team.

I'm still looking for information to see if I can sell my "Collector's Edition Pet" to someone else (in game, of course) after the game activates it.

We're getting two copies, one regular and one CE.  Righ wanted the book.  Neither of us want some pet who will demand food and take up a space in our inventory or bank, so we'll ditch him in the woods somewhere.

Just incidentally Signe, while I don't disagree, it's only the hunters combat pets that need feeding. There's no maintenance involved in any of the others as far as I know.

Well, I've ordered the regular version from EBGames about 14 times and cancelled it 14 times.

I've been playing (the closed beta) for over a year.  I think I'm burnt out.  I'll play it next year after I've recovered from the trauma inflicted with the durability patch.

Is there any hope for an MMORPG addict?

Yes, if you've burnt out on a game that hasn't even gone to retail yet, you officially have a problem.

Well most games tend not to have a somewhat open to the public beta that lasts a full year. I wouldnt be surprised to see a bunch of people who take a break for a good while before actually picking it up in retail.

I had the "Blizzard fellatio" edition pre-ordered, but it turns out I'm going to be gone all next week. I didn't want the package sitting on my stoop for four days, so I cancelled the preorder and will stop by the store on my way home from the airport next week and pick it up.

I'm actually a bit relieved that I will miss the raging fiasco of the opening days. If I were home I don't know if I'd be able to control myself.

    Um, never mind.

This is the only bonus edition I've ever bought of anything (although my spouse frequently does so with DVDs and CD collections), and one of a handful of preorders I've ever purchased as well.

Seriously, I bought the Warcraft 3 Collector's Edition for $20 not too long ago. The art book was great and that is the main reason why I am buying this CE. I don't like the special pets. I also look forward to the "behind the scenes" DVD and the soundtrack.

My wife is going to use the 10 day free trial to see if she wants to play as well.

I want it for the art book as well, and the CD sountrack is pretty cool. Plus I like the idea of using my DVD-rom for gaming since it includes a copy of that. I'm thinking that means less disks on install, but I'm not 100%. Plus, I'll put the map up on the wall or something and use my mini Lord of Terror pet to dance a merry jig.

Too bad monkey pets weren't an option.

If you were in the Open Beta, no reason to re-install.  It is the release candidate.

    CE.

I want the art book, the soundtrack, and of course the 10 day free pass to give to my friend whose wife won't let him play because she doesn't want him leaving the DAOC guild she runs. ( I wish I was making that explanation up, more than you'll ever know.)
