The Uncharted 2 thread made me realize we need another sweet ass trailer up in this.

Here you go.

That reminded me of how awesome Half-Life was; I never played HL:Source though.

I wonder if they'll include opposing force and blueshift in their makeover. Either way it looks damn cool.

That was much more fucking bad ass then I expected from a fan mod.

Decent, about time someone revisited the game. Release is 09 but long as they release a few weeks before ep3 it would be an epic series to play in one shot.

I've been following this for a long time.  It seems like they've been working on it since HL2 was released.  Its looked absolutely fantastic from the beginning, and its only gotten better over time.  After it is released I may have to set aside a weekend and play Black Mesa: Source through HL2: Episode 3  :-D

Yeah, Black Mesa looks like the shit. I never did finish HL1 (got stopped right before going to the alien planet) so this would be a great way to do that, especially since it's free.

Sounds to me like you finished it.  Xen wasn't great. Although the ending scene was good so I hope you used cheats to see that.

This might be the thread to mention that the guys doing the PC mod of Decay, the co-op game from the PS2 version of the game, finished recently. Site here.

EDIT: and yes, that trailer = le awesome.

Fuck it, I'm necroing this thread.  This is coming out in less than2 weeks finally - but sadly it isn't the whole remake, just through Lamda Complex.  Its been in developement since.... shit I don't even know, maybe since the months after Half Life 2 came out.

Eight years of development. And "just" through the Lambda Complex is still about 85% of the game; everything after is just Xen, which few people like and I imagine nobody minds being excised.

Apparently Xen is going to get a complete overhaul and remake though.

Yeah, maybe the word "just" wasn't necessary, but after 8 years, hey whatever.

Still though, I am looking forward to this either way.  Half Life 1 with modern tech is something to be excited about in my book.

I have HL Source on my comp but have never played it. Did it upgrade the original HL at all?

A bit (higher def models and stuff), but they didn't overhaul the whole game to take full advantage of the new engine, which I think is the idea behind Black Mesa.  The little clips I've seen definitely look better than HL Source.

HL source doesn't even have higher res resources I don't think. It's literally HL1 pasted into the source engine, so it has prettier water, some physics, and good texture filtering. They DID change how the guns feel a bit; like the shotgun kicks a bit harder, the MP5 is positively squirrely, etc.

You're right; I could have sworn they used the hi def model pack for it, but apparently not.

I downloaded and it is absolutely awesome. The textures and models and voice overs. They also added many new details and some new gameplay elements. After so many years it feels like a new game. And a game worth playing

Yeah, I played a bit last night.  It is definitely worth the download.  They really need to get this shit on Steam though, torrenting a mod is a little outdated.

It's on Steam Greenlight right now, which is pretty much the only way it'll be able to be downloaded through Steam itself.

This was basically the Duke Nukem Forever of mods. Been playing it; it's a really good re-creation of HL1 with a lot of annoying shit cut out and a lot of annoying shit left in + hilarious physics bugs that make scientists and barneys explode into pieces if they step on clutter. They definitely cranked up the difficulty however because the army grunts are LETHALLY accurate now and do retarded amounts of damage. The ammo caps on the guns are ridiculous too so running out of ammo for spammy weapons like the MP5/Pistol tends to happen a lot.

Also the worst jumping puzzles in the game have been left in for the most part.

I gotta say, the gunplay feels pretty spot on from what I remember of the original HL.

Crouch jumping is of the devil however, and it is alarming how fast my muscle memory came back.

I don't play console shooters. I only ever played the original HL1 on hard. The grunts are silly accurate. Ironically, the assassins are pretty inept and easy to kill.

I was referring to DNF in the way that it took like a decade to come out.

Yeah, my only real complaint with Black Mesa is how obscene the grunts are now. The accuracy I don't mind much, but the damage they do is ridiculous. It's been so hard to avoid save scumming every time I hear radio chatter.

Had no problems on normal difficulty. Really enjoyed Black Mesa since it's been forever when I played Half Life/OpFor/Blue Shift.
