Check the forums then at homebetatrial.com, to check how much these prepubescent kids complain about fake girls/women.

One of the only fun things to do is to follow someone around and then when they turn around you dart behind them. That, and watch people cluster around the only female character in the area.

Hammer, I'm delighted that you decided to pop your head in on a thread about a project where you are the exact opposite audience. However, the "games are getting too easy and gamers are getting too stupid" coalition needs you over in the Wii: Console Depression thread.

I'm honestly surprised you like the home stuff Schild. It really just seems like a pointless way to waste time when you could just be using the system for any of the other cool and actually useful stuff. But really if dead behind the eyes avatars roaming around and chatting it up like it's 1995 is the new hip thing, by all means, eat that shit up.  Ohhhhh, I see.

My Home experience:

Download client.

Boot client, get informed that I need to reserve 3 GB for Home data.

Attempt to sign in.

Repeat last step 10 times.

Get in, play around with zombie creator for 10 mins.  Register disappointment at the dearth of options.

Look at the shitty noob apartment and hope that there's stuff that I can get to make it less chintzy looking.  Make couch fort.

Exit to 'Plaza', where I'm immediately greeted by some guy shouting 'STOP GRABBING MY ASS!' to all and sundry around him over and over and pity the poor chick avatar running away from 10 followers.

Visit the 'Mall' where I hope to remedy the lack of clothing and furniture.  Finds that clothes are $.49 per piece and furniture starts at $.99 per piece.

PS Button, exit, then boot up LBP.

Why such fawning over females?  I really haven't seen it that bad since the mud days (where the smaller community would be happy to defend their female members from such annoyances).  Are PS3s only bought for horny fourteen year olds?

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

Its pretty, and the streaming tech built into it is somewhat interesting.

Its the people that ruin it. That, and the voice chat....oh god the voice chat.

I should have listened.  No, I had to try it myself.  It was almost hilarious, in a laugh-at-the-retards way.  Favorite moment was in the bowling alley:

dickbasket: u want 2 play bowling?
*short pause while I fumble around*
dickbasket: fu

Sony has just removed voice chat from Home.

I can only imagine why... probably too many "Hey I fucked your mom" and "hey are you really a girl? I'm going to hump you now!"

Removed or changed it to an opt-in thing?

This. If Nintendo had put out Home and made a little apartment for you to dress up and further interact with your Miis and you could just load it from the system, the press and public would be fucking fawning over it. It would sell even more systems. On the PS3 though? Confusion, chaos, and distress.

I think it's pretty tight. I've approximated my appearance closely too... Got red hair though. Look like the male version of the Heavenly Sword character. Heh. I'm digging Sully's Bar.

I'm not into socializing here no less than I am in other MMO type of environments, so I see no reason to let that bring me down anymore here than elsewhere. The software though is pretty cool. Hopefully I actually have more to do here than socialize. Just having more games and shit -- and ways to win things (as opposed to purchasing with real dollars) would entertain me.

Sully's Bar.

What the hell was every one in there talking about door codes and all piling up on the doors at the back? Did i miss something when i ran away from the 20 or so VOIP users screaming about "WHATS DOOR KEY"?

Really, I'm quite surprised that not many of you are impressed by this. They've at least delivered on the underlying concept/what they advertised back in that vid awhile back. It works. I think it'll be cool once it's integrated with the rest of the PS3's shit.

I don't keep up with what they have planned, but they should install a Bravia and PS3 in everyone's house (duh). It'd be cool to have episodes of Qore (or hell, porn on your hard drive) streaming in there. More store integration as well. There should be streaming versions of every trailer and making of video in the store on here too.

[edit] BTW Schild, have you created an "F13" Club. Heh

Open beta's sure making a great impression in that they keep people cramped into the same few spaces. Apparently they've been gradually cutting out more and more stuff. I've been told there was a marina area with jet skis and shit like that.

Also, this thing does autosharding. Means if there's that much people in an area, surpassing the limit will create a new shard and log new folks into that one. So don't expect to meet friends in public areas again and again.
