Oveur's new blog is big and wide-ranging - http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=603

Key parts are:

- You can sell GTCs in 30-day chunks through the contract system, so those of you who were upset by the cost of the 60-day cards can go back to 30-day ones, with less price-fixing.  They are items in-game, but cannot leave a station, so no tear-filled thousand-dollar ganks.  Itt, CCP protect retards in untanked itty Is from themselves.  Aimed partly at stopping RMT.
- There will be an in-game "Evelopedia" for help and more.  Ultimately player-editable (hmmm: revert/edit/revert/edit/revert/edit etc...), it is one of a number of social networking tools on the way, like in-game blogs etc...
- Aren't we awesome on the improved performance? (yes they kinda are, actually)
- API to be expanded
- Quantum Rise will be released next month (features listed here: include the speed changes, industrial ship changes, alchemy etc)
- The ongoing large-scale features planned include "Walking in Stations, player housing, new races, planetary interaction, new environments, professions, new tech levels"

This is a good start to the week.  I am excited to an embarassing degree about what is on the way.

Exciting times.

I wonder how the changes to local and the new asteroid/mining/ratting thing will tie into each other.

Good stuff, impressed with the GTC plan. Very interested to see how it effects GTC prices (in ISK) in the short to medium term. The cash price of EVE subs is higher than my current value threshold, but if the GTC ISK prices drop low enough for me to pay for a couple of accounts with a reasonable amount of ISK grinding then that might change things.

Of course it may just push prices up, I'm zonked out on tramadol at the moment so I don't seem to be able to logically work out which is more likely  swamp poop

ps. Endie, check your PMs, although I'm guessing you're playing too much EVE atm to consider some WoW :p

EVE Online: Quantum Rise Expansion's Last Staged Release

Reykjavik, Iceland, November 4, 2008 - CCP, one of the world's leading independent game developers, announced November 11th as the launch date for the final deployment in the two-part staged release of EVE Online: Quantum Rise, the ninth free expansion for EVE Online. EVE Online players have already begun to enjoy the performance-enhancing improvements of the StacklessIO and EVE64 initiatives which were introduced in an earlier phase of the expansion's release, and both of which have set the stage for truly limitless combat. Several times in recent weeks, over 1,000 players have participated in single-system battles with extremely minimal lag thanks to these new industry-leading advancements.

These previously unannounced features will debut in EVE Online: Quantum Rise:

# The introduction of In-game Subscription Services. You can now convert your 60-day EVE Time Codes (ETCs) into two 30-day items in game. These “30-Day Pilot’s Licenses” can be traded freely through all regular means (via market or contract or directly between players) and can be activated at any time. This feature will be available on November 11th or shortly thereafter

# Assembly Array upgrades for those wanting to produce on a grand scale

# Alchemy allows moon materials to shift the whole landscape of Tech 2 production

# UI changes include a moveable HUD, module recharge timers and weapon grouping

# More efficient bomb production. Producers get more boom for their materials

# Upgrades to the Trinity Premium graphics content for the ubiquitous stargates of New Eden

# A rebalancing of ship speeds for vessels of all sizes to rediscover their combat viability, making player vs. player strategy and tactics more important than ever

# 10 new beautifully haunting music tracks by EVE soundtrack composer RealX

Already revealed features of Quantum Rise include the ability for corporations to create and distribute their own custom medals for whatever accomplishments they see fit to bestow on their members. Pilots will find a newly-designed certificate system provides a quick and verifiable way to prove their worth in gunnery, trading or countless other professions. The shipyards of New Eden have been busy rebalancing industrial ships and are almost ready to undergo production of the mighty capital ship, the Orca. For easier navigation, all ships will feature autopilot avoidance options and a few new routes will open up in New Eden.

I'm very curious to see what this bring us in regards to GTC prices.

Too bad they said they aren't going to be moveable items though (unless that changed?).  Imagine suicide ganking someone with a stack of time cards in cargo!  awesome, for real

Probably because of exactly that.

EVE (inactive): Deakin Frost -- APB (fukken dead): Kayleigh (on Patriot).

This both excites and scares me. I can see it now... red in system, he's uncloaked, shit my HUD has jumped behind my chat window... UGRRHHHH!

Edit: Meant to say HUD, not UI

It won't jump any more than it already does, hopefully.  The only thing that's moveable that wasn't before is the HUD disk with all the weapon icons attached to it, and presumably you can still hit F1-F8 even if it disappears (although, not being able to see the status of your shields/armor/hull will suck).

UI does not excite me.  Not until it gets a full overhaul and a bunch of that context menu bs is removed.  YOU KNOW, I WAS GOING TO MOVE TO A DIFFERENT SPOT IN THE FLEET BUT SCREW IT, I WILL QUIT MY CORP!  WHAT A HANDY OPTION!

Anyway, weapon grouping is useful for people like me, so it is not a total waste.  It would be nice if they stopped windows from randomly collapsing, but I will not set the bar very high :P

Haha god yes, this. I think CCP should devote one entire expansion cycle solely to redesigning the UI from scratch.

Also... Alchemy? What? Alchemy?! That's the best name they could come up for this in a sci-fi game? rolleyes

Nov. 11 heh, 2 days before Nov. 13.

Eh, fuck CCP and their UI.  Not even the most perfectest revamp of it can make up for the 5 years of absolute pain we've endured.

Been wondering lately what the next "imba"-cry will be about. Personally, I'm guessing 1400mm Artillery, but call me crazy.

Or it might be to stop goons posting their gay snuff erotica on Evelopedia.
