Looks real good, especially with a budget in mind. I do like this hard drive better: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152102&Tpk=spinpoint%201tbUnless you're some kind of hardcore audio freak, integrated sound is more than good enough. As for the fan, I will tell you from experience that the HSF you get with that E8500 will feel all kinds of twisted dirty wrong when you go to install. However, unless you're planning on overclocking, don't bother with replacing it. Other than feeling flimsy when installing the thing, it works fine.

I think that varies from board to board. I know that the integrated audio on my Gigabyte board absolutely blows, and the one I had before on my Asus ASN32 also was terrible. I'm no audiophile either, but the difference was pretty significant.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

I've had 2 Asus boards die in the span of a year. Everyone raves about them so I may have just had bad luck but I'm currently using the Gigabyte you originally linked and am much happier now.

I might have made a mistake, but for ~$90 I'm getting a board that should do at least better than average and 2GB of Ram. I figure worse case scenario I'm out 100 for another motherboard, but best case is I save 50-60 dollars. So I was willing to take a chance on the board. Also ended up buying the Spin point Hard Drive and this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102801 video card.

I personally swear by WD drives, and I have no experience with Samsung drives, so let us know how it goes.

I have that Spinpoint F1, very very fast transfer rates debating making it my primary drive as it benches faster.

I had the same thing happen 2 (?) years ago. It was a fucking nightmare. Every mobo I had before that was an ASUS and worked perfect. Maybe they just had a few bad years?

I wonder how much of electronic failures in the past few years are strictly due to RoHS. Solid state caps boards
