I sat on Scryer's Tier and watched a guy go from 38 to 53 without moving, just ding ding ding ding ding. Screenshot of the same guy getting the level 40 and level 50 achievements just a moment apart. How can I get what he has?

Through the recruit a friend promotion. When the friend account levels a character through it they get some gift levels they can give to a character on your account. It lets you do stuff like this:

Gifted levels?
in the recruit a friend program for every two levels your character earns you can grant one of your friends characters a single level. So say you and a friend level together to 60 with the exp bonus, you can then grant your friends new alt 30 levels(up to 60)

But... but... it's an MMO! Getting levels is supposed to require cramming your dick in a meatgrinder so that you know you've EARNED it! Didn't anyone read Blizzard the rules?!
(Seriously though, that's awesome.)

Yeah it rocks, I'm only going to have time to (hopefully) get 1 pair of chars on my RAF linked accounts before it expires which means I'll have 30 levels I can give to any of my chars under 60. I've got this level 28 warrior just waiting for insta-58 :p

In addition to gifted levels, you also get the 3x xp from kills AND quests when you are grouped and in close proximity of the recruit-a-friend account. I am doing this deal with a friend of mine to get some characters leveled - he leveled one character to 60 while I was at work, while dual-boxing my other character, and then I ran two of our characters through instances all the way to 60. He self-leveled a third character to 60, so on my recruit-a-friend account that I bought, I can turn 3 of his level 30 characters into level 60. So, for probably the amount of effort it would take to get one character to 60, I will have 3 level 60s, and he will have 6 level 60s. Loving it.

So... anyone willing to bet when complaints arise from douchebags leveling all the way to 60 without really playing the game and have zero clue how to play their characters? Or would it not be any different than it is now? ;-)

It wouldn't really be any different. The game plays so fast that even though you have a "max level" character it does not mean you are in any way shape or form GOOD at that class. Fuck, even at 70 there were tons of hunters still using Aimed Shot instead of Steady because "it does more damage, dood!" Pallies who didn't pass out blessings because "they wear off too quick and they don't do that much" or my favorite, the rogues who could never, ever sneak up to sap a mob without aggroing the whole group.

Always my favorite. We used to kick rogues out of group for fucking up sap\sneak pulls more than 2 times (especially since I played a rogue and know how to do it right!). Nice to see nothing has changed ;-)

Leveling speed has very little to do with people "not getting" their own class. If anything at all.

Any reasonably intelligent person who is willing to spend a little time learning about their class can be handed a level 70 and be competent within a week. People lacking in those qualities will never be any good regardless of how long they spend leveling up. Plus the gifted levels are for the recruiting account, not the recruited. The supposed newbie still has to level up, albeit at 3x speed assuming their benefactor levels up an alt with them.

I used to be the head newb-teacher in this UO guild a couple years ago that was recruiting toddling newbies right out of newbtown and training them for "endgame" like a factory. (Scripting up skills FTW!) Teaching them how to actually play the game was no big deal, and late-era UO with it's layers of weird expansions and ancient interface probably has a steeper learning curve than most games, and even then they were pretty easy to train. These games aren't really that hard outside of maybe the upper echelons of PVP.

You'd love to think that, but honestly, with the amount of drooling idiots that I've encountered lately, either there is a giant influx of complete morons, or I'm just really lucky on finding the giant blob of them all in a short period of time. Telling the DPS that you're not going to heal them, so they need to control their aggro really is NOT a difficult task, I've even had true new players tell me they didn't understand, and I point them to Omen threat meter, and they say "thank you". I don't mind teaching people if they ask. It's the idiots that die 5 times and then I have to just boot them from the group that bothers me so much. Or the "let the tank pull" logic, I'm pretty sure it's the easiest way in any given PUG, but that hunter needs to prove he can do it too! Or the rogue who loves to start off each mob with CS, the list is endless. You'd think for something that really is so easy, people wouldn't make it so hard.

I'm pretty sure that every PUG I've been a part of that had at least one hunter in the group resulted in mostly wipes. I don't understand why Hunters in particular are typically the dumbest fucking people that play this game, but they are and because of it I don't ever group with them if I can help it.
I really do think it boils down to the classic axiom: the worst problem with most MMOs is the players, and unfortunately for us, WoW is the biggest of bunch.

People do learn though. In my current guild over the last 9months most of the players have come on leaps and bounds. It's mainly when they realise that it's less hassle in the long run if they do simple things, like not standing in the fire, or mages decursing the tank. There used to be a time when I had to prod our MT to use thunderclap and heroic strike, now he moans at me for not keeping up as he chain pulls packs of 5+ mobs. When levelling solo people often ignore so much of their toolset, and that takes time to learn when you hit max level. Some people (mainly hunters, sorry guys) never learn though.

Because it's an incredibly easy class to just "play" but damn tough to play WELL. You can be an idiot and do ok at straight DPsing, but you're never going to understand being aware of mobs around you, pet pathing, don't multi-shot around CC'd mobs, dropping traps where and when, etc. The prejudice you just expressed is yet another reason I stopped playing a hunter with 3.0. It's just not worth it anymore and *I* also found myself hating the other players of the class.

They don't call them "huntards" for nothing. I have a friend who refused to play with hunters he didn't know. It was his opinion that they caused nothing but chaos, and he wouldn't have anything to do with them. Ever. Personal experience suggests that he does have a valid point.
When I still played my warrior, one (of several) things that really pissed me off was the rogue cheap-shotting thing on pulls. Used to drive me crazy. One of many reasons I don't play warriors anymore.

I'd probably hate every rogue too if I didn't already play one as my main. Hell, I already hate most rogues.

In my experience, 95% of hunter related wipes, are because of piss poor pet control. God help you if they have some kind of 'EZ-Huntering' Mod. The class is idiot proof solo, and the solo play does nothing to get people into a group mindset. Even the most brain dead rogue understands the big elite mob will squash them if they garner its attention. If you tell the hunter to just put the fucking pet on passive, they are no more annoying then any other random DPS'er. Of course, a hunters pet is a huge chunk of their DPS, but on the other hand, the groups DPS goes way up when everyone is alive Nothing quite like watching a hunter pet bee-line through 3 mob packs to attack some random rat in the corner.
