Apologies if this has been asked before. I am fairly new to Eve (8 months) and decided upon mission running (ship/missile/shield) skills to match the requirement. I was part of a small corporation that occasionally did some mission running but was rarely on-line. I did a bit of mining but skills only for Miner II (Laser). I still dip back into Mining to improve ISK balance.
Currently my skills are L4 in BS, Cruise, shields etc, L3 Learning & L3 Implants etc. I have since joined Faction War and continue to improve my "PVP" skills
Now my questions:
1. Could someone confirm the quickest route i.e. new player attributes + skills that will get me to Hulk Miner in the shortes possible time.
To achieve Hulk Mining in the shortest time possible means i cannot continue to improve my PVP skills, so the only option is another account (as I see it) unless you know different.
2. If I try a 14day free trial account or power of 2 and begin with best attributes and starting skills for Hulk Miner, could I then continue the account to the desired level and then sell that account to myself ingame through Eve website and thus continue with this Miner as an Alt................is this possible and the best way forward.
Thanks in advance for any help.....

I dont know much about mining, but one of your best options is to download a program called Evemon. You link your character into the software using your API key (available on Eve website), then you can add the skills you wish to plan for.
Alternatively, you can add the ships you wish to train for and/or modules and Evemon works out what you need to train, but also tells you how to train faster, i.e. it suggests which learning skills to add to the plan in order to result in a faster training time.
Hope this helps.

I recently started one, I went with Caldari Achura. with perception and Int as my attributes. I searched for a while but could not find a good guide.
My thoughts were: Mining Barge 5 will be longest train. Get perception up.
Int will help with some of the learning stuff and Astrogeology 5 (as well as a secondary on Industry which is only a rank 1 skill).
First thing you do is train Cyber I, and plug in some +3s
Then get to work on learning skills. EveMON was a huge help for this. Just use the skill planner, and plug in the Ship Hulk and select train all skills for it. At the bottom will be learning skils suggestions. Add them to plan.
My hulk guys im working on are skipping the crystals. that could change your needs some and may be useful for a have more memory.
This is not perfect, but should work pretty well.

ok thanks so far.......
What exactly were all you base attributes Slayerik for the Caldari Achura Character.
I think "power of 2" gives you 6 months for $$ which should be long enough for uber miner...but is it possible to transfer/sell to myself that mining character from another account...
Afternote..........just checked Eve and character transfer possible.

Can't remember, I just pushed towards heavy perception, followed by heavy int

I'd have to double check but I think you want int/memory for a mining alt.

So the way forward is Caldari/Achura/Inventor with attribute leanings towards Int then Per or Mem
Thanks so far guys.........

I'd have to double check but I think you want int/memory for a mining alt. For a 6 month alt I'd have to agree - at first I thought he was just looking to get in a hulk and call it a day. There are a lot of skills you need in stupid industry if you wanna use the mining crystals, which you will.

Just realised "Power of 2" finished on 10th Oct. So its 14day free trial + further monthly subs.
Unless someone has a reasonably cheap Caldari Miner Character to sell..........

Wait I'm confused, you want to setup another account for a hulk, beginning with a 14 day free trial followed by monthly subs until you're happy with with the skillset at which point you will transfer that character to your main account, is this right?
You are aware that only 1 character per account can be training at any given time, so in the future when you decide to train for orca's or supergodlyminingshipofasteroiddoom you will have to stop training your main. Why don't you just keep your second account and sub both and continue your main and second training and when you're happy with the mining skills train your second for fotm falcons or whatever?
Or am I really confused and missed what you're doing?

My main aim was to train up a resonably skilled miner as quickly as possible so as to make additional isk and have a decent alternative to PVP/mission running. It was also one of cost. What was the most cost effective way of reaching my goal:
I take your point about continuing a secound account for further un-interupted skill training and I may still choose that route "finances" allowing. If not I will transfer the Hulk Miner when he is skilled up and accept the training hit.

After the removal of ghost training, I personally wouldn't recommend training an alt miner to anyone unless you have money to throw away at a subscription where you only log in to switch skills. Sure it was a nice hobby, but such an expensive one nowadays. With prices dropping in the character bazaar, I would rather train up a pure ratting alt (a vanilla Raven pilot or an Amarr BS pilot if you have access to Sansha or Rogue Drone rats and want to pew pew too), get access to good truesec systems and do a months worth of ratting. If you have a billion ISK you can already start spreading the word out that you'd like to buy a Hulk character.
After that's done you should have your "main" account, that has your primary character training whatever the heck you feel like training while ready to kill dirty Minmatar militia terrorists in the name of the Empress or your preferred BoB-pets, and your "money-making" account with your specialized Carebearing Choice of the Day.
