Why can't WoW implement an appearance tab?  Is showing ugly shoulder pads that important?

They've flat out said they could, but won't.  The shoulders are an Iconic part of the sets, which is useful in PvP and for E-peen, so they don't want a way for folks to turn them off.
Too bad, because that might actually break my resolve to not return.

(Revert to 'actual' appearance in their silly battlegrounds.  If someone doesn't want to show their e-peen, then... the e-peens stand out that much more.  Seems win-win.)
Yeah, it's not exactly brain surgery - turn off appearance slots in BGs and arenas, leave them on everywhere else. Hell, let it be an option whether you want to view other people's appearance slots or their actual gear.

Hey, I didn't say it made sense or you'd like it.  All games have things that are part of "Vision" thinking by the devs in one way or another.

I hate the shoulders in WoW, for exactly that reason.  The sub-level 40 shoulders are not bad, but everything that comes later?  Awful.

And I don't like not matching.  I think my daughter has the right idea.  She collects robes (only she calls them "dresses") and wears what she feels like wearing.

I thought WoW was all about giving people what they want.  An appearance tab is what we want.  Give it to us please!  And more bank slots or a new closet or something.

An appearance tab might be enough to bring me back.  I quit because of the endgame grind, but my second largest complaint was that I hated looking at my avatar.

You will need more SEA-types on the Blizzard Exectutive staff for this to happen.  It's very much a Game, not a world and design is approached from an AKE gamer perspective.  This is why they fail on things like /lfg, guild management and guild recruitment but other things are just fucking stellar for those of us who like A & K type gaming with a side of E.

Lantyssa, those BGs are bullshit anyways.  Don't bother until they unfuck PvP.
I wouldn't bother even if it was unfucked.  I'm not into PvP.  I got in on a few open world battles years ago that were fun, and other than being oddly aggressive in WAR, I'm a carebear.  Battlegrounds hold little interest for me, and their reliance on equipment > level > skill/thinking kills what there is.  Thus the 'silly'.

Precisely the way LotRO does it and it works fine (every slot is toggled to showing and any cosmetic items are removed in the PvP zone.)

However - it does get kind of ridiculous when people are wearing their best dress in raids... but I'm a dirty RPer and picky with those immersion-related things. So it's not without side-effects unfortunately.

Yeah my biggest problem with the appearance tab idea is that sort of thing. I don't want someone tanking in their Easter dress.

I'm not sure it's possible to be playing WoW and complain about immersion at this point...  If anything, the gain from an appearance tab would problably be a net positive, considering even blind people have better fashion sense than what you get from picking gear based on stats rather than looks.

You're talking about immersion in a fantasy game that is about to implement motorcycles.

There now exist 4 people who will hate you until the day they die. Gratz.
4 people?  Me and a guildie regularly kill the bastard with a three person group (the third usually being him dual boxing his wifes priest just to toss heals as an afterthought).  HH is a joke now, considering he was balanced based on the gear curve a full year ago (when Kara gear was uber).

Feral Druid / Ret paladin and we can practically 2 man him.

His character picture says he doesn't outgear HH event though. my what do we have here?

It dropped for me earlier, and I, in typical fashion, rolled a 6.  Hopefully I'll luck out on the next one.

Also, the squash and pumpkin hat drop from treat bags now, which is nifty.

Yeah my biggest problem with the appearance tab idea is that sort of thing. I don't want someone tanking in their Easter dress.

People already do this a lot on my server with Noggenfogger and the Halloween transformation rods etc. Cracks me up doing a 5-man with everyone as pirates or skeletons :)

I think it went in on a hotfix during some midnight server resets, but I'm not sure.  Now all I need is some wand transformations and the gnerdrage one and I'm set.

Hmm.. you should have doen Gnerdrage the same day you did all the candy baskets.  Those only last a day when you loot them.

They changed the candy basket candy to a two week cooldown as well.  I never did all the candy baskets, so I'm still set.

You can also get the candy from the present you get from the orphan after defending a noob town from the horseman (daily quest).

I hit 68 last night after a two-night quest grindfest, so I can finally take the horse airborne.  (Yay druids.)  It is pretty phenomenally sweet to have a mount that works in the old world and can take to the sky in the new zones.  Given that other flying mounts will be useless in Northrend until you hit 77 and shell out a pile of cash, the versatility is a nice touch.  Not having to pay for an epic flying mount is nice, too.

Meh, it's only 200g.  After shelling out the 5 large for the skill you really don't feel it.

Heh, well.  I wasn't gonna be paying the 200g in any event, I was gonna do the quest for the epic stormcrow shapeshift.  But it'll be nice to have an epic flying mount in that window of time between my shelling out the 5k for the riding skill and getting off my ass to do the quest.

I heard that there's some awesomeness in the quest, so I'm not gonna take the shortcut of buying it off the trainer.

HH mount won't work in Northrend without doing the same shit you have to do for any other flying mount, I can pretty much guarantee that.

One hopes that It will just summon as a normal epic ride like it does in the old world.  If not it's only 7 levels and a grand.  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Oh, it certainly won't fly.  But it should at least appear as a normal ground mount, whereas I'm betting that normal flying mounts won't be able to be summoned at all.

As well, instead of giving us more bank slots this patch, they freed up a lot, with the new pet system, mount system, and badge systems they added.

I would disagree.  I would say with 90% certainty that it will function perfectly as a normal ground mount untill you unlock "cold weather flying", then you will be able to fly with it again.  I base this off the new flying broom tech, that lets the Magic Brooms behave as any type of mount, depending on your current Riding skill.

My kid was messing around and rolled a dwarf warrior, went and did the event, and got the blue little pet pumpkin.  Now he plans on leveling up that guy.

What is the spirit of competition in the warrior guild?  I thought you got the pet from doing the BG's during the Olympics?  I got the tabard, but never the pet.  Would be cool if Blizzard would let kids or adults who do sports in clubs or competitively or sign in daily at a gym (for adults), then give them a pet, might have to have the coach or trainer sign off and mail it in, but it would be neat.
