RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISE!!!!!   Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?
(the search feature was my friend)

Anyways, I JUST the other day saw this great film.  I'd seen the 1st one, but this one takes the cake.  Hilf_ckinlarious.  Here's the youtube link for the 1st part:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwtH5oQqHPg

All parts are located under that youtubers playlist.  So you can watch the whole thing.  It's good enough to buy the actual DVD though.

edit:
here's the trailer

I recently watched this on Netflix streaming and enjoyed it. It is a low budget film about a group of D&D players. The film bounces between them playing there characters through an adventure and real life.

I have never played WoW.

Watched this last night - I haven't laughed out loud to a movie that much in a long time. The acting is terrible, but it fits, because half of the movie is the players acting out the characters (which should be bad, as gamers generally can't act).

I don't know that anyone who didn't play pnp games would even get the movie, but for those who do, this thing was great. Unfortunately, it made me start thinking about what my gaming group would look like dressed up as their characters.

I am not sure if the netflix version has them but the CD version has a ton of outtakes were the actors just go off riffing on tangents and some of it is so funny I could hardly breath while watching it.

If you have ever played an RPG in your life watch this film.

Pretty much this.

It's also worth digging up the original if you can find it, IMO.  Believe it or not, Dorkness Rising looks like a Hollywood blockbuster by comparison.

I thought both were pure genius. Particularly the "backstabbing ballista" bits and the part in the credits where the paladin is talking about slaying evildoers with outrageous metaphors.

I got 37 minutes into the first one before I had to stop.  Maybe I just don't have that sense of humor anymore.  I'll give it another shot later, but I'm not holding my breath.

I had my doubts on this one.  After the first 5 minutes I was sure I was going to be doing nothing but cringing.  When the dude backstabbed the book because it had a spine, I more or less lost it.  So much win.

Personally I didn't find the first one funny either, at least what I watched of it. The second one had me roaring at parts though.

The first one was funny but the second one is more overall accessible to more people and had a lot more concentrated humor. It takes a few minutes to get going and then it is non stop win. My friend I watched this with nearly exploded into small bits when she finally realized the tag team action between the male and female actor playing the crazed mage lady its disturbingly easy to miss that sometimes its the guy in a dress and sometimes its a woman.

Halfway through this. I watched the first one and thought it was fairly amusing. This one probably has 10000 times the budget and is rip roaringly funny so far. As noted above the tag team between the woman and guy playing the mad sorceress is a scream sometimes. And I was in stitches at the arguing over the rules as I have been in so many of those arguments.

They're working on a fantasy "series" come this spring.  It'll be a weekly/monthly release type thing similar to "The Guild."
Cant wait.  No seriously.  I cant.

If you actually get the DVD there are even more outtakes and some are just total comedy gold where the guys go off on a random tangent and just take off running.

I caught this on Netflix and couldn't stop laughing. My wife just rolled her eyes at me and left the room.

I'm probably not nerdy enough in a PnP sense to dig this movie the way the rest of you did...but I watched it anyway.  Despite it being fundamentally retarded, I guess I liked it anyway.  Some parts were downright hilarious.

...and the part where the bard manages to approach the evil grimoire and then ...I just about pissed myself.

Same here. I never played PnP games but this was worth watching. I finally picked up Dragon Age: Origins and laughed when I noticed Bard as one of the specialization classes, next to a bunch of badass sounding ones. Not that I've never heard of a bard or anything.

Weren't Bards badasses in Vanguard?  awesome, for real

I saw this awhile back, after reading this thread. I found it amusing but also quite  Facepalm
I showed it to a couple of friends who I used to PNP with (and who still PNP with some other friends of theirs) and they loved it and even showed it to their PNP group.

nerds, eh?
