I've never had this issue before but I've heard of others having it as well. I just wanted to get my own confirmations on it. My computer was working fine in the AM yesterday and when I got home from work yesterday it wouldn't come out of idle. Tried turning it on and it wouldn't so I tried to check out what was going on. Here's what happens: PSu fan, CPU fan spin for a half second then stop and wind down. I get flashing lights (a few greens and a yellow) near the RAM. The front LEDs turn on then off then continue to blink every 5 seconds or so. My parts: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12VGIGABYTE GA-X48-DS5 LGA 775 Intel X48 ATX Intel MotherboardWith an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz I checked the power connections, I took the whole thing apart and reassembled it. I tried starting it up without my two graphic cards in there, tried with one. Tried with each of the RAM modules in. I even tried a 450W PS unit (an old one) and it didn't work. When I start it up I hear a brief whirling and then it stops. Ok I suspect a dead PS. Also I understand clearing your CMOS could also work. I hope it's not my CPU or MOBO that's broken. When I get home tonight I'll try the CMOS, if that doesn't work I'll have to run out and buy a new PS and try that. Am I on the right track here? I'd hate wasting time. |

I would lean towards the power supply, even though you tried an old one, simply because it was old.
The fun with issues like this is that you cannot know until you replace the right part, and any of them could be it. It's cheaper to try the PS first, and at least you can always keep it as a backup.

Ah. That's different. Could be the motherboard, CPU, or maybe but probably not memory then. |

If 4 weeks ago the same older PSU worked on this board, then ya, I'm with Lantyssa; your mobo is probably fried due to a power spike or some such :/

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Ok I didn't know that this was supposed to be in PC/Console Gaming. FIgured this was for games only. Oops
Anyway I fixed it. I had to reset my CMOS battery.

Not sure. I had some changes to my BIOS but it worked fine for two weeks. I have no idea what went wrong. |

I fixed it, but the lights were all on and flashed at the same time.
