I blame the caffine free Diet Dr Pepper and sleep deprivation for my previous failed attempt.   However, considering how those are examples of what I considered typical forum-administrator in-jokes, being a goddamn idiot isn't completely factored out either.

So, you're looking for a serious avatar.   Alright, I'll apply a bit more effort... granted, for some reason I think grief-titles get thrown around freely enough already.   I found some good political satire artwork.  Any of those look good?

I should probably replace my avatar while I'm at it.  It's an old Adult Swim pic from an event that happened back during he last April Fools which nobody probably remembers.

Less than 5% of the population has grief titles. Less than 2% if you count developers. Don't pee on the contest.

Edit: Here's some avatars I've used in the past. Not necessarily here.

Got my avatar.  Stick figures don't need a backbone, but they can be gamers.  (Actually, this avatar sucks, I'll change it to something else later.)

So, given some new guidelines, here's some contest submissions:

(Removed S-Child pic as apparently I had heard wrong about that.)

Alright. Listen. It's not fucking S-child. I am not kryptonian or whatever wack shit you think. This is not a nickname. It's my last name. It is pronounced like "shilled" only a little faster. Che-rist.

Edit: BTW, that goes for a lot of people besides Geldon as well.

Okay. Here are a bunch of little Katamari avatars I whipped up. Just some snips and a little bit of filter playing in Photoshop.

I picked the Amiga image since that's the best one.  The Atari ST and SNES versions weren't bad either.  People would probably find the C=64 of IBM images more familiar, but they are fairly crude.  And the B&W Apple images truly suck ass.

One of these days I'm going to get that game.  It's only, like $20.

Be that as it may, I still prefer the C64 version myself.

I know somebody had put together a fully animated gif of the entire sequence, but my google-fu was lacking.

All this gaming nestalgia gave me a better idea for my own avatar...

Here's some others, pre-shrunk so you could see the details:

If you think any of those would make a good avatar, I can shrink em' down no problem.   Course, the text won't be as legible, but game nestalgia that old is mostly an in joke.   For example, most people are going to look at my avatar and say, "WTF is Psi 5 and why should I care?"

I loved MOM. I still remember the day I bought it; I called all over the county looking for it, and finally found a copy at a mom and pop store 20 miles from my house.

Back to the avatar hunt.

Just for reference, it doesn't have to be game industry related. Hell, most of mine in the past haven't been.

Too big, but maybe you could trim it down to just the relevant part:

I was going to post a linked pic of D*r*k Sm*rt, but couldn't find one that wasn't on his site. I didn't want to alert him to our little backwater eddy in the Internet. I could have saved one and emailed it, but that is a hell of a lot of work.

I think it would be fun for Schild to have to limit his posts to <=2 per thread or else risk summoning trouble =)

Shock, that tiny white/grey one is Celebrate the Nun's "Meanwhile" isn't it? Or is it Continuous? One of them, I'm sure.

As for the rest of you, there are like 1800 posts I've made, surely you can Be More Clever/Devious/Brilliant/Mad.

That Got Synthpop thing came from A Different Drum, right? I used to write some shit for them back in the day. Probably my first fake news job. Free music, new stuff, publicity. I dug it.

Continuing with the movie theme (my own choices, sifting through all Schild's posts is hard)...

The Orson one would have to be accompanied by the title "...what I TELL them to think!"

(Edit: My website's been a little flaky the past few days, so if the images happen to be broken when you look at them, I apologize.)

Sorry, no site to host my own, but I think this would look good pared down to just the image in blue.

Rest of the Wasteland pics are here if those two don't fit.
