How can I fool my computer into believing I am in the USA

No Hulu Eureka, fox.com Prison Break, and nbc.com Office is driving me crazy.  More importantly, how can I do this without slowing down my computer (through use of bouncing proxies and whatnot) in every other way?  Thanks.

Need to use a proxy or find an ISP accessible from Japan that has a IP block that the GeoIP services think is in the US like a US satellite Internet provider. Or just download the shows (fuck them if they won't let you watch them from overseas).

Edit: for the proxy thing you only have to use it for the sites that block content based on IP. Firefox probably has some sort of plugin that makes it easy to switch it on or off or you can just use two different browsers -- one that uses the proxy and one that doesn't.

Yup, the obnoxious IP geographic location restrictions are what removed the last tiny feelings of guilt I had for downloading TV torrents. I can't even watch a goddam 30 second clip from the Daily Show because Comedy Central figures it doesn't have to spend bandwidth on foreigners.

I use http://www.strongvpn.com/ and it has often times actually sped up the connection while traveling, obnoxious hotel internet proxy boxes really suck.

Insofar as I understand it, the issue is foreign syndication rights (and foreign piracy, harder to get at from U.S. courts) not bandwidth.  But for some gut reason, it seems less illegal to trick my computer into believing it is in the U.S. then to torrent things.

Have someone you know in the US install a password protected SOCKS proxy you can use. Or a Slingbox. Or run your own proxy software (like ASProxy or phpproxy) on a server in the US (anywhere from $10/month for php/asp hosting to $99/month for a virtual private server).
