So far two people I know have been hit by this and have been emailed stating the CE is on backorder for them.

Update:
Quote
Thank you for ordering from EA Store (US) on March 26, 2008. The following product(s) has shipped.
With tracking number and all. Huzza for the person hitting a wrong key, hope everyone gets their CE that pre ordered with EA.

God dammit, soon as I checked my online order:

How much of a window do we have before we have to enter a full game code anyway? I'm just on a Target SE preorder, but Target is sometimes a little slow to get new stuff out to the actual floor.

Just on a hunch, I checked my email 30 seconds ago after reading this.

Low and behold, I received the same email and ordered it the same day you did.

This better not impact me being able to play tomorrow...MJ's already had to talk to the EA Store once regarding people who changed their mailing address after ordering from the site (which was resolved, BTW).  This is just bad...

I doubt they can afford to lose this business.

Send these people a CE key.  Promise the CE materials ASAP.  Simple enough fix.

Is there a number that you can actually reach EA at?

I've been trying to call their hotlines but all I get is some automated shit.

I want to speak to real, fucking humans, so I can scar them for life verbally.

That number just goes directly to some music crap. Not working. I googled it and the other numbers that came up are disconnected or w/e.

EDIT: Also, Warhammer has disappeared from their scroll down email us when something fucks up crap. And so much for getting back to me in 24 hours.

Which brings me back to my original question: how the hell does one even contact EA?

1-650-572-2787 does not in fact work.  I mean maybe I'm not jesus enough to have them speak to me, but they show me as ordering 2x the amount of games I actually paid for (a physical and a digital copy of WAR). And my email submission disappeared from the queue of problems I emailed them.

Now that's classy.

What they should do is have you listen to a tape of John Madden talking about why you should kick on 4th & long on a loop.

Apparently people are being told like five different things about this issue, so it's totally unclear what is actually happening.  Answers range from "the email was just a mistake, nothing's wrong" to "they won't be sent for two weeks."

My CE arrived a day early.. wasn't expecting it today.

It's actually a really nice CE edition.  I'm glad they gave us hardcover books instead of crappy paperback.

My Amazon package showed up today.. and I could have sworn I canceled the order.  Hrm.

Anywho, this is why I always order from Amazon.  4 CEs of different games over the last 4 years and I've yet to have a problem, despite seeing many people wailing and gnashing teeth.  I always advise people to avoid the fuck out of EB Games and Gamestop, too, since they seem to like overselling.  4 guild members got screwed out of their BC CE because of that.

Thank you for purchasing Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Collector's Edition through the EA Store.  Due to issues with our
inventory management system, you received an email alert about a
possible delay in shipping the Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning
Collector's Edition.  We have since resolved the issue and orders are
now being processed for shipment to the majority of our preorder
customers.  A small percentage of our customers have been affected by
the delay.  If you fall within that group, you will receive a second
notice to explain how we intend to compensate you and give you access
to the game until your Collector's Edition arrives.  We apologize for
the inconvenience.

I got that same email, saying that they were sending their CEs out.

My EAStore issue is that I made the rookie mistake of using my work email as my contact email. I no longer work at that same place and changed my email with EA. Now, my pre-order doesn't show up anywhere so I both tried to send something to customer service (Warhammer Online isn't listed as one of their games) and also asked the question using my account, which they say they reply to in 24 hours. 4 days later I got a copy/paste telling me how to input my head start codes, nothing about the status of my order. I tell them this and their response was the EXACT same copy/paste of how to enter my Head Start codes.

I had a number for EA that I never used that I got from the Beta Boards, I'll try to track it down again and will let you know if I actually get to talk to someone. At least I got that email saying that there isn't an inventory issue, so maybe my pre-order is still in the system. I seriously doubt it'll make it to Canada before I'm locked out of my account though.

Speaking of the CE, I got my in-game items last night for the CE, and I'm rather underwhelmed.  The camp's on an hour timer, and the ring's aura only has two charges.  I understand not wanting to have overpowered items and all that, but still.  Not as nifty as I'd envisioned.

Yeah, the ring looks like it will be replaced in T2 by better gear, and charges?  Damn that's cheap.

The campfire is cool though.  It's a good place to mark as a kill spot for people, although I suspect that it's healing proc generates aggro for the person that drops it.  Last night in PQ2 Chaos I never drew aggro from our tank while healing him until the time I dropped that campfire.  Then they couldn't keep the boss off me.

So on the likelihood that my CE pre-order is not going to be here before the 20th I went and bought a regular copy of the game just in case. the question now is can I use the key of that copy to register the game without messing up my CE Stuff?

Looks like they moved the key entry day too today. servers are down atm but I'd expect when they come back up anyone who hasn't put a key in won't be able to log in until they do.

I'm still trying to find some concrete info on weather using a SE key will make it so I can't associate a CE key later or something. My situation is prolly unique, living in Canada the only option for pre-ordering initially was thru the EA store however when I attempted to I wasn't able to complete the transaction because it wasn't accepting that the province I selected was a part of Canada. I went a few rounds with EA support and the last response I got was :

Quote
Greetings,

Our store uses an outside database for shipping and address information. I am going to forward that on and see if there is an issue with the listing for that area. I am not sure how long it would take to correct if there is an error within that database.

I couldn't use a different address because it wouldn't accept my credit card info then.  So I figured I was SOL, but then The Source (www.thesource.ca) was one of the first Canadian companies to have preorders. SO I went with them, but it is saying on my order page that the CE is on backorder. So I've sent a email to them hoping to get a response about it shipping but I'm not hopeful. I'm sitting here staring at an unopened copy of the SE, I'll use this when the servers come back up if my CE doesn't show up because I want to be able to play this weekend.

I entered a CE preorder key and have the items and such, then I screwed up my preorder and could no longer get a CE.  Yesterday I entered a SE key and it allowed it.  The CE items weren't destroyed or anything.  I suppose if mythic wanted to they could go through the effort of scanning every account and determining whether or not someone should have those items but I kind of doubt they will.  I guess the CE code unlocked extra avatar design options and it would be a major pain to go through and change those.  The CE items kind of suck anyways.

I still wish I had my CE though.

My understanding was that the in-game items were the same between SE and CE, only that the CE got new faces.  The in-box items that the CE gained were the miniature and hardbound books.  I think.

Anyways, I'm in the same boat.  Thought I was getting a CE, put in the CE code, Gamestop put in the wrong sku on my preorder so I didn't get one.  Not a huge deal, but I'm hoping my account doesn't get jacked up at some point for having a CE preorder # with a SE key #.

I don't think it will ever come to disabling the account or anything.  Gamestop screwed up and sent out a whole bunch of CE keys to SE people so something like that would create a lot of innocent victims.

From poking around yesterday after putting my CE key in, CEs get two quests for each race that give titles and items, for the elves it's a small trinket item for an easy PvE quest, and a cloak from doing PvP.  The quest makes it sound like you have to go to the RvR area, but I seemed to get some credit towards it from a kill I had in a scenario.  Every race also seems to get a unique face, which for elves was a blindfold type deal with a rune on it, and for humans is a skull mask.  Which looks a little silly, but unfortunately it went through with the change when I tried to cancel out.  The camp and ring seem to be more a preorder bonus than a specific CE bonus, so I had misunderstood that aspect of it all.

If you didn't accept the new face it will revert back to your original face when you zone or relog.
