Keyboard player and cornerstone of Pink Floyd Rick Wright has died of cancer. I'm stunned, I didn't know he was ill.

This is really sad: in 2005, during Live Aid, all of them (but Syd, of course) demonstrated that they "still got it". Unfortunately they immediately squashed any rumors of a possible new reunion in any shape or form (mini concert, last world tour or whatever).

I wonder if there is now a bittersweet feeling among the other members of the band, thinking about all the missed chances of singing one last time together in the last three years (the situation involving Syd was a whole different matter, of course, it seems to me they couldn't really do anything about it).

Conincidentally I bought a record player a couple of weeks back and had dusted off Wish You Were Here in the weekend.  Even through the crackle on an old LP that's a fine sounding album (if very prog rock).

The local music shop was playing Dark Side of the Moon at lunchtime today.  Not sure if it was deliberate or accidental but it was poignant and a bit sad.
