It finished on 27 December 2003. There are no more episodes of The Office, except the special version being made for the humour-impaired.

Yeah, in all seriousness, the American Office destroys the British Office, and I liked the British Office.

I try not to compare the two, because they really are two completely different shows. The evolution of the characters in the American version has been so strong, and would not have been with different actors playing those roles. And there's nothing saying you can't like both, because they are both good.

Never saw the original (Ricky Gervais) series… …1st few episodes of 4th season were rather weak and unfunny, but they picked it up once the season got going and ended on a good note, though it got just as ridiculous as the 3rd season end…

The play between Michael and Dwight is so good it's funny without them even saying a word… …the Jim/Pam stuff is ah eh, and I don't think they can do that much with some of the other characters but we'll see… …this is right around the time a TV series starts to go stale…

We popped in 1st season DVD and were struck at how much the actors have aged, or appearances so different due to other reasons (movie bits for the actors, etc.…)…

That's crazy talk.  I knew to watch the American version because I enjoyed the British one so much and once they stopped trying to do exact copies of the British episodes the American show became superior.

I agree with everyone else, I mean I've fucked Ricky Gervais and I like the American one better.

Seriously though, when was the last time you watched it?

What about German Office? I don't speak Deutsche, so I have no idea how funny it is.

Meh

The fact that at the start they pretended it was an original idea even when they recycled the exact same premise with minor chances (Insurance company and the two branches are divided alphabetically) put me in a bad mood already when I watched it once.

The German Jim (Ulf) is a complete tool instead of somebody you sympathize with. Kinda assholeish to Pam, which you could say is an important change. But I'm not sure a smart one...

Edit: Because chance and change aren't the same.

I've never seen the original, and I don't watch the American version.

The only reason I came here to to express my seething hatred of Rickey Gervais.

Probably our favorite show to watch together. Especially since we both work in the same office together and are basically Jim and Pam since we started as an office romance. They just replayed the dinner party last night, such an awesome episode. Love the new direction they took with Michael and Jan.

And the recent episode where they told that chick that Kevin was slow and he thought she was coming onto him, comedy gold. Now I can't watch Kevin without thinking about that plotline.

Last night's season premiere was amusing, but it felt really off, like the writers and cast members forgot how the characters act. I love Ed, but Andy is getting on my last nerve.

I agree with this.  All the scenes with the new HR person felt herky-jerky.  Its like they haven't decided whether she's going to view Michael like everyone else, or closer to Dwight.  And

I disagree. In fact, Amy Ryan is the best thing on that show right now.

I thought the first couple shows in season 4 were kind of lame and this season 5 premiere, while not as bad as season 4 premiere, was a tad askew…

Like the HR gal / Michael play…

The Angela / Dwight deal got old before the end of the episode…

I like the Andy character, but don't like where they're going with him… …rather would see the dorkus Andy from a few seasons back…

How many of the original writers are left? I seem to recall hearing that many shows got mixed-around after the strike as writers went off to do other things or had found different jobs in the meantime. (ob not in the TV/ Movie industry)

"Business Ethics"-

Meh.  The only part where I cracked a smile was Ryan's little speech during the seminar about Survivor.  I still feel they don't know where they are going with Holly (i.e., buying into Michael's insanity or being like pretty much everyone in the office except Dwight).

Not seen the American Office, but I used to find the British Office really hard to watch. The humour was always so raw, so close to truth and so centered on the pain of the characters that I never found it funny.

Plus, I'm pretty sure that over the years I've worked with at least one of each character in it. It's just too accurate. Similar to the Royle Family actually, although I manage to laugh (lots) at that sometimes, but it was still too real to be truly funny for me.

Yeah, I know, I'm too sensitive :p

Sorry man, but that episode was awesome. The number of reaction shots to the camera was epic. Olivia Newton John's "Let's get Ethical!" Dumbledor Calrissian. Outback sirloin as a "tip". The "spiky" chastity belt where you put "the thing." I mean, come on, what more do you want?  Great deleted scenes this week

I have a mega-crush on Amy Ryan and want to have her man-babies so I am in no way objective, but her character and Michael's bumbling attempts to be both her "friend" and build a relationship with her are a riot.

Are they still not there… …most of them star in the series — B.J. Novak (Ryan), Mindy Kaling (Kelly Kapur), Paul Lieberstein (Toby). Steve Carell has written a few episodes too…

Episode 1 of new season was so-so, OK, still not as bad as episodes 1-2 of season 4…

Last episode (thursday - ethics) I like… …I like the HR character…
