Yeah, it is out, I have mixed feelings about it. It is neat, has good presentation and it certainly is Bionic Commando... Then again the swinging mechanic on it feels dated as hell and the no jumping thing really is a silly thing to stick to. I mean if you want to exclude jumping, that is fine, but have movement options that make it so that a fucking crate isn't such a problematic obstacle. I shouldn't have to swing over a waist high crate, I am a bionic fucking commando. Also, what is with not being able to jump down to a lower level..."noooo...my only weakness...bad guys with movement options....uhhhhg..." Anyway, I like the challenge levels and the Shinkiro character portraits, as well as the explosion effects and what not. The Boss fights are all pretty enjoyable so far, so that does make up for some of the silly control stuff.

PC or xbox?
I don't have a xbox and was considering it for the PC, but I don't feel like buying the game and a gamepad. Wondering how the kyb controls would be. Likely shittastic, I'd wager.

I can not imagine this is playable with the PC. That said, Hammer Frenzy doesn't know how to use a PC. He posts here from WebTV.

Ha, I am still posting via DC web browser... Anyway, yeah I have in on the 360. I played it a lot more tonight. Still the same shit. Man, I really don't know if the aesthetics/extras outweigh the god-awful controls. Really, really antiquated. There are ways to tap the nostalgic nature of these classic 8-bit games without making us relive the torture that was Bionic Commandos controls. Really, this is just retarded. I am playing it for the sole purpose of kicking it's ass in despite the control barrier. Honestly this game would be cake if the swinging wasn't handled like crap.

The other day I played a bit of the original NES version and had a lot of fun with it. To each his own.
Man up and use your bionic arm to get over those crates!

Mechanical arms weigh a lot and jumping with them is tough. On the plus side you have a fucking mechanical arm so it sort of evens out.

Yeah, I like the bullet countering and stuff, but so far it just feels sluggish as hell. That and instant deaths via spike pits + shitty swing mechanics = shit. There is just too much to dislike in the execution of the controls of the game to make up for the rest of it in my opinion. I like weapons upgrades, and I like the aesthetics and some of the art, but I find myself really disgusted with the developer insisting on keeping bot the good parts of bionic commando and all the bad parts of bionic commando. Oh well.

I'm pretty sure my age was in the single digits when I beat the original Bionic Commando. It was an awesome game.
Man up. Gaming has come a long way since then and you're applying your standards to a re-release of an old game. :P

Pretty shitty that I know of some good games that were canceled cause of this (and other crappy remakes that seem to be popping up everywhere). I tried playing it today, and dispite enjoying it when I was younger it frustrated the hell out of me.

Manning up has nothing to do with it. It is much more than a remake, It has a lot of extra stuff and added gameplay elements. This doesn't excuse the shit controls. Manning up and accepting awful swing mechanics are two different things. A lack of mobility options in this game is just as unforgivable now as it was when the game was released. don't forget Shinobi was around at the same time, and it moved incredibly fluidly for it's time. There is no excuse for not being able to jump down a level, hop over crates, insist on pinpoint accuracy for swinging and adding unintuitive "press forward to release the hook" bs swing mechanics. Come the fuck on. the hook CAN retract but NOT give slack? Why do I have to retract the hook, then release and instant diag-hook just to get some slack on the wire? That is advanced input for a simple concept. why can't I just press down on the d pad? Why can't I build momentum from a dead wire by just moving back and forth? Instead I have to shoot my fucking shotgun.(!?) That is literally hyper-unintuitive. don't get me wrong, I will play it, and I can even admit that after some time I got use to it, but that is just it, I shouldn't have to deal with the BS control issues and "get use to it". I spent the first hour of the game amazed not at the game but how poorly implemented the control was. I am playing it cause it's Bionic Commando at the point, and not cause it is really good.

I just got through playing this on Normal and doing all the Extra Challenges. Holy fucking donkey shit those challenges are hard. They were so hard that in order to do some of them right took beating the time set by the creator and ending up #2 in the World on Xbox Live for 2 of the challenges. I am glad I got that damn achievement.
Now it's time to play Super Hard, and they aren't kidding about how hard Super Hard is. Capcom knows how to make Throw Controller At the Screen Difficult Games (Lost Planet on Max Difficulty anyone?)
The trailer for the multiplayer on Bionic Commando (New One) looks shit hot though.
