Sign up here if you are interested - lets get the show going by Thursday

-Advanced start = 3000 gold
-Monarch difficulty
-double bonus
-double event rate
-Classical Start
-Pangaea land, 12 Players (AI will fill in gaps)

Also vote if you want to start the tech tree at the second level; I am ambivalent and can dominate either way.   I will update the top post as information comes in.  Also need a volunteer to monitor things.  Rulers are by whoever calls it first; alternately say "random" and I will get a random Ruler picked out for you.

Players signed up:
Cheddar = Hannah the Irin (Lanun)
Stormwaltz = Amurites (admin)
MrHat = Varn Gosam (Malakim)
Slyfeind = Decius (Calabim)
Sky = Perpentach (Balseraphs)
GenVec = Kuriotates
veredus = Doviello

I will release the map on Tuesday so we can start getting set up- game on by Thursday.

edit.  Random players will be drawn tomorrow (Saturday).  I ran some test games; starting with 3,000 gold will allow different play styles.  Also, raging barbs was way to brutal and will lengthen the game by a LOT.  As I challenged in the other thread feel free to vote for my starting Civ!

Random!

If no one else volunteers to run things, I'm willing to do that instead of play. I get nearly as much satisfaction from watching other people play games.

Early or late next week?  I am ok with waiting - we still have to set up a timeframe for people to get their advance start going.  Also, Stormwaltz you can play AND run things.  I seriously doubt any of the participants are going to cheat - I have gamed with most of them and they are solid people.

They say the 19th. I'm on vacay so I can also run a SP game to learn how to play FfH2 again :) Don't worry about waiting for me if you're ready to go, I'll just be quickly wiped out anyway. If I can play, put me down for Random as well.

Thats actually a really good start date - Gives me time to get the map set up and random civs picked out.  I have never done PBEM so will need to figure that out as well.

If you need more people I am willing to give it a shot. Should short and brutal for me but sounds fun.

Dovus or whatever the Barbarian civ is would be great.

We will cap the game at 10 players.  Definitely gonna need raging barbarians - need to even the odds for the AI!

Do we still get to pick your Civ, Cheddar? If that's the case, i'm nominating you for the mighty Lanun.

I meant, we're having computer players too right?

Or am I just going to be abused by barbarians like every other game?

I am thinking we will make this bloody - 16 players.  AI to fill in the gaps.  If it goes smooth play wise we could splinter and have smaller seperate games going afterward

We are going with a large pangea landmass, 3,000 gold, dropping raging barbarians.  I ran a bunch of scenarios, and raging barbs completely drew away from the interplayer interaction.

Lanun I can work with.  No real strengths, no real weakness.  I will have your random Civs by tomorrow so you can practice.

Edit.  I am going to test double speed as well.

And here I thought I was giving you a handicap by suggesting a seafaring race on a land-based map.

The only real strength the Lanun Civ has is being so-so.  Starting leaders traits are decent, world spell they have blow, leader is ok.  Unfortunetely, there is no strength to play up to (like how the orcs have uber dogpile abilities).

Random Civ picks are:
Cheddar = Hanna the Irin (Lanun)
MrHat = Varn Gosam (Malakim)
Slyfeind = Decius (Calabim)
Sky = Perpentach (Balseraphs)

Awesome. So how will we do the advance start? I've never PBEM'ed a Civ game before.

I will need to figure it out - I spent most of yesterday testing the rulesets out.  Should have the details on Tuesday of how this will work!

Classical tech tree start with 3,000 gold seems to be the sweet spot; it really allows mucho strategies.

The only real strength the Lanun Civ has is being so-so.

But they have some hilarious events, if you play the male leader. Essentially you have a chance of seducing all the female leaders in the game.

Hang on, I've got .32.

EDIT: Oh for... looks like it will take over 1.5 hours for me to upload the main files alone. Searching for an archived copy.

EDIT 2: Ah ha. 0.32 core files available here.

EDIT 3: Patch L up on my FTP.

Thanks Stormwaltz!  I am running behind today - the damn babysitter took the day off and my son has refused to nap (8month old 4tw!).  Also, he crawls around (like a jet engine) and pulls up on things, so its constant chasing him around and making sure he does not pwn himself.

Ah, crap. I was offline transferring stuff to my new machine all last night. I'll install Civ4 on it tonight and set this up.
