I've been doing some testing tweaking and kinda wanted to point out some misconceptions about tanking that I have noticed. I was gonna post this on the Eve-o forums but I would prefer to get an intelligent response . There seems to be a lot of misconceptions about how killmails, EHP and plates work hmm where to start heh.
Ok well the first time I noticed what people were doing & suggesting was on the AMA forums, where a lot of the suggested remote rep fittings were triple plated with just one EANM. I believe this goes hand in hand with the assumption that more damage on the killmail means you actually took more damage this is to me is a misconception. So basically pilots started noticing that they took more damage (per the killmail) when they had a triple plate than when they had two plates and two EANM. But you see the killmail only equates the damage you took after resists so the lower your resists are the more damage will show up on the killmail not necessarily meaning you took that amount.
The only way to figure out your EHP from a killmail is to average all your ships resists if they come up 60% then the damage readout on the killmail is 40% of your EHP, eg. if it showed you took 40k damage your EHP would be 100k. So Ive worked out that in nearly every situation its better to fit two EANMS and two 1600mm plates because not only do you get the same EHP/buffer but when you get down to hull the repping glean you more EHP back due to you having higher resists.
Anyway just wanted to get that off my chest seeing as I foresee lots of remote rep balls in the future wasn't too long was it?
I'm going to escape, come back, wipe this place off the face of the Earth, obliterate it and you with it.
