The energies they're using are nowhere near the theoretical limit of the machine.  It's pretty much LHC easymode right now, yet still they break records.  It will start getting scary when they approach the energies needed to see the Higgs (if it exists).

It was only half power or something like that.  It's supposed to double in power over the next few years, which is when they expect to destroy the universe discover if they can see anything about the Higgs-Boson.

I predict we'll see something around the end of 2012.

It is being turned off for 14 months in 2012 after being run for 2 years at half power (what it is at now).

Maybe they are doing that just to make sure that if the world DOES end at the end of 2012 they can't be blamed.
