who is the provider? Time Warner, I expect to be throttled within days. Edit: I'm only supposed to have 2.2MB down, but this 15+ is stable from ehhhh, some large download sources.

Are you in your house or are waiting for someone to invite you to live with them? If a really rch elderly woman invites you to live in her pool house, say yes.

You're stalking Lum? Does he know of this?
Will you pay to not send him a PM with a link to this admission?

As long as you're stalking him, you may as well find out what he's working on.

Well, it was inevitable, obviously. It was a matter of when. The other option was Portland. But avoiding Winter is key for me.

global warmingis on your side! The winters in Austin can be vicious but lately they seem to only last a few weeks.

Kerbey Lane alone is enough to make me never want to leave. 24 hour diners with good coffee are my greatest weakness.

The other good thing about these diners is that you can come in your underwear if you want, or any other kind of freakish wardrobe (or lack thereof), and no one's going to give a shit.

I'd really like some of their waitresses to work in their underwear. I'm not so sure about the patrons though.

Kerby Lanes' kitchens can be absolutely disgusting, so buyer beware.
If you're worried about being "caught for repeat business" or whatever(not sure why that's a huge deal), Jim's is a similar kind of 24hours establishment. If you are lusting for late-night chinese, Wan-Fu is open till 4am(though sometimes they close early). Downtown is also supposed to have a couple hole-in-the-wall places for thai and whatnot that are open pretty late, haven't found those yet though.
If you want to get drunk in a hurry go to Baby Acapulco's (but call it Baby A's if you want to start blending in). Their food is terribad, but the purple margarita's are made with everclear, and they have other decent flavors. As my most regular hangout, it's hard for me to not recommend Trudy's, especially on tuesdays as their premium mexican martini's are house price, and they have an okay selection of other drinks. If you like beer I recommend trying fireman's #4 and shiner black, best if draft.

while this may seem like a good idea to some, all the flaws are revealed the 1st time you run into leslie.

Avoid any type of contact or near contact with Leslie if you value your hygiene.
I forgot to add, some people recommend StarSeeds cafe for latenight dining(they are 24hours AFAIK), but every time I have gone there(three times, with each ending with us leaving before ordering) the air smelled like a toilet bowl full of dookies.

Avoid any type of contact or near contact with Leslie if you value your hygiene. I don't understand this sentence. Also, are you still in Austin? I can't keep track of people very well. Time to look up the location on some of these places. I'm in the northwest and our Kerbey Lane seems to be incredibly clean and constantly busy. So, yea, ymmv most likely - as with any diner.

Ok.
Starseeds is a little Nowhere Near me At All. So that's crossed off. Both Wan-fu locations are a trek. Obviously the airport one is nowhere near me. Jim's is 5 minutes from me, will go.
I'm not 'worried' about being caught for repeat business so much as it won't be long before I've had everything on their menu and I don't want to burn out in the first couple weeks I'm there.

Ahh, that Kerby Lane is usually actually clean, but I would never trust the southernmost one.
Yeah, I still live here, but I'm a southie, so northern austin frightens and confuses me.

Also, I've had like 6 different waiters there, and seriously, best waiting staff I've ever had the joy of experiencing outside of Four Seasons in New York. Shockingly good. I've been tipping like 25-30%.
Yea, I wanted to move to South Austin but given that I gave myself 3 days to find an apartment and still somehow managed to get my roommate to look at like 18 places, I'm happy with what we got. It's small (just under 1k sqft) but it works. And it's 2 blocks from that Kerbey Lane - that said, they're moving one block closer. Heh. Bastards.
I think I'll go to Jim's in a bit I suppose. I know there's a lot of f13ers in Austin, but I don't know if they read Gen Disc.
